Aadujeevitham, or 'The Goat Life' when translated from Malayalam to English, has some rumours around its release date. According to sites like 123Telugu, the movie may be streamed on Disney+Hotstar from 26 May onwards.

This is not the only time rumours of the film's release date on OTTs were spread. Sites like English Jagran claimed in late April that the OTT release of the film would happen on 10 May. No official confirmation was given for this date, and it soon passed without the OTT release. The current rumours for 26 May also don't have any official announcement backing it so far, so people who missed the film in theatres and want to watch it from home may want to temper their expectations for the release.

The movie itself was based on a book from 2008 by the same name. The book is also based on the real-life story of Najeeb, a Malayali immigrant labourer. Najeeb was scammed into travelling to Saudi Arabia for a job, only for him to be forced into slavery. He was made to work as a goat herder, suffering torture from his bosses, until he finally managed to escape from them and run away into the desert. After days of being lost and avoiding death, Najeeb made it to civilization, only to be incarcerated for not having the proper documentation to be in a foreign country. He was, however, allowed to be deported back home, avoiding the torture and death he saw inflicted on those he worked alongside.

The film was released on 28 March, 2024 to both national and international acclaim. A tweet by the team behind the film showed that the film had amassed ₹150 crore in the global box office collection in just 25 days after its release.

Najeeb, the man whose life story inspired the plot of the movie, also watched the movie during its premiere. As reported by TimesNow, he felt extremely emotional during the film, unable to hold back tears during many scenes. He said he wanted the movie to be a success and that everyone should watch it.
