  • India are looking to win their third ODI fixture in a row against Australia for the first time since a four match ODI win streak back from January to March 2019.
  • This will be India’s third men’s ODI fixture at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot; they have won their last fixture at the venue against Australia back in 2020 after losing the other fixtures (v England in 2013 & v South Africa in 2015).
  • India have won nine of their last 11 ODI fixtures at home in 2023 and are looking for a 10th victory; a victory would equal their second most ODI victories at home in a year only behind 2011 (15) which included a World Cup campaign at home.
  • Australia have lost their last five consecutive men’s ODIs; a loss would see it being their sixth loss in a row, their worst losing streak in the format since a seven match ODI losing streak back in 2018.
  • India has conceded the least amount of runs per match in ODI cricket in the middle overs (overs 11 through to 40) with 114.4 runs per match in 2023; in contrast, Australia have conceded the third most by a full member side with 152.2 runs per match in 2023, on average 37.8 runs per match more than India.
  • Australia has the highest strike rate during the powerplay (123.1) by any full member ODI side, ahead of second highest India (102.4); outside the powerplay, Australia has second highest strike rate (106.5) by any full member side behind South Africa (111.8).
  • Rohit Sharma (India) plays his third ODI match as captain against Australia and is yet to win against the Australians in the format; he averages 21.50 with the bat in ODIs against Australia as skipper, his lowest against any other ODI side as skipper.
  • Mohammed Siraj (India) requires two more wickets to become tied for leading wicket taker by a bowler from full member side in 2023 in men’s ODIs, tied with teammate Kuldeep Yadav (31) and Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana (31); Siraj has taken 19 wickets at home, tied most by any bowler from a full member nation in men’s ODIs in 2023 with Zimbabwe’s Richard Ngarava.
  • Adam Zampa (34) requires three more wickets to become the outright fifth most wickets by a spinner against India in men’s ODIs; Zampa is also a wicket shy of being outright fourth for Australian bowlers against India in men’s ODIs behind Brett Lee (55), Mitchell Johnson (43), and Steve Waugh (43).
  • Sean Abbott has been bowled by spinners four times in ODIs in 2023, tied second most by any batter this year with Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka (four) and behind Sri Lanka’s Dhanajaya de Silva (five) in the format.
