MediaTek Dimensity 8250 SoC Announced for Mid-Range Smartphones: Check Features, Specifications
MediaTek recently introduced the Dimensity 8250 chipset, marking a significant addition to its mid-range lineup. This 5G-enabled processor stands out with its use of TSMC's 4nm ultra-efficient architecture, alongside a dedicated APU designed to enhance AI-related tasks on smartphones.
The launch of the MediaTek Dimensity 8250 SoC offers a glimpse into the future of mobile technology, showcasing the blend of performance and efficiency in the mid-range.
MediaTek Dimensity 8250 Chip Specifications
The Dimensity 8250 chipset boasts an octa-core setup, achieving speeds up to 3.1GHz. It is equipped with a mix of Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55 cores, complemented by 4MB of L3 cache. For graphics, the chipset integrates the Mali-G610 MC6 GPU. It supports LPDDR5 RAM at speeds reaching 6400Mbps and is compatible with UFS 3.1 storage solutions.
On the AI front, the MediaTek APU 580 powers the processor, setting a new standard for AI performance in the segment. The chipset's capabilities extend to driving primary cameras of up to 320MP, supporting triple rear cameras, and enabling 4K 60fps video recording in HDR. Display support is equally impressive, with compatibility for WQHD+ displays at 120Hz and Full HD+ displays at 180Hz.
Connectivity is another area where the Dimensity 8250 shines. It features a fully integrated 5G modem covering SA, NSA, and 3CC sub-6GHz 5G networks, with peak download speeds of 4.7Gbps. It also offers WiFi 6E support with 2×2 MIMO and Bluetooth 5.3. Notably, the chipset supports India's NavIC navigation satellites, alongside other global navigation systems.
First Smartphone to Feature the MediaTek Dimensity 8250 SoC
The Oppo Reno 12 is rumored to be the first smartphone to utilize the MediaTek Dimensity 8250 chipset. While Oppo has yet to confirm these details officially, the device is anticipated to debut in China before reaching European and other global markets.
This move highlights the growing trend of incorporating advanced chipsets in mid-range devices, offering consumers high-end features at more accessible price points. With an expected price tag of around Rs 30,000 for devices powered by the Dimensity 8250, MediaTek aims to bridge the gap between performance and affordability.
The introduction of the Dimensity 8250 signifies MediaTek's commitment to enhancing the mobile experience, promising a blend of robust performance and advanced connectivity features for upcoming mid-range smartphones in 2024.
