Just two days following their Italian Cup victory, Juventus have made the decision to part ways with their manager, Massimiliano Allegri.
This announcement came on Friday (May 17) after a heated moment during the cup final against Atalanta in Rome, where Allegri was sent off for his protests aimed at the match officials.
Allegri's dismissal was confirmed through a statement from Juventus, highlighting conduct during and post the Italian Cup final as not aligning with the club's values. This incident marks an abrupt end to Allegri's tenure, especially after securing a record fifth Coppa Italia as a manager.
"Juventus announces that it has relieved Massimiliano Allegri of his position as head coach of the men's first team.
The exoneration follows certain behaviours during and after the Coppa Italia final that the club deemed incompatible with the values of Juventus and the behaviour that those who represent it should have," a strong statement from Juventus read.
Allegri was out of bounds with his actions during the victory celebrations, which has led to an inquiry by the Italian Football Federation's disciplinary tribunal. Allegri was sent off by the referee in the match, where he was seen in an animated chat with the match officials. The Italian manager then tore his jacket off and waved away the sporting director of the club during the celebrations.
The Turin club directly accused Allegri of his ill behaviour at the stadium in the Coppa Italia Final. Despite the triumph, Allegri won't be a part of the Old Lady anymore.
Allegri's contributions to Juventus have been significant, with an impressive record during his first stint from 2014 to 2019, including five consecutive titles, four Italian Cups, and two Champions League final appearances.
After a two-year break from coaching, he returned to Juventus in the 2021-22 season. However, his second spell did not mirror the success of the first, capturing only the Coppa Italia. They are currently placed 4th in the Serie A table and will be playing their final two matches of the season with a new manager at the helm.
