WWE SmackDown: Updates from King and Queen of the Ring tournament

As King and Queen of the Ring tournaments continued through the latest episode of SmackDown, multiple WWE Superstars from the men's and women's roster advanced to the quarterfinal round that will be underway from next week's Raw.

Three names have advanced to the quarterfinals of the WWE King of the Ring tournament from WWE SmackDown side of the bracket and they are Randy Orton, Tama Tonga, and Carmelo Hayes after winning their respective first round matches.

Carmelo Hayes defeated Baron Corbin, Tama Tonga defeated Angelo Dawkins while Randy Orton defeated AJ Styles in the main event of SmackDown to move on to the next round of the King of the Ring tourney.

Hayes will now face Orton in a quarterfinals match on next Friday's SmackDown, while Tonga will face the winner of the Santos Escobar vs. LA Knight first-round bout set for this weekend's untelevised WWE Supershow.

From the Queen of the Ring tournament, three SmackDown superstars have also moved on to the quarterfinal round of the WWE Queen of the Ring tournament and they are Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, and Nia Jax.

These three names won their first round bouts on SmackDown, respectively against Candice LeRae, Piper Niven, and Naomi to advance to the second round of the second-ever Queen of the Ring tournament.

Belair will now face the winner of the Tiffany Stratton vs. Michin matchup set from this weekend's Supershow on next Friday's SmackDown while Cargill will take on Jax in the quarterfinals on that same episode. At a glance, the match card for the May 17 episode goes as follows:
