Madhavi Raje Scindia Dies

Madhavi Raje, affectionately known as the 'Rajmata' of the Gwalior Royal Family, was the spouse of the Maharaj of the royal family of Gwalior, a Congress leader, and a former Union Minister, Madhav Rao Scindia II, who tragically lost his life in a plane crash in 2001.

On May 6, 1996, they tied the knot in Delhi. Their wedding was the talk of the town; a special train was arranged for their wedding procession from Gwalior to Delhi. Following the wedding, they received a grand welcome with flowers that decorated the whole way leading to the palace. The couple was blessed with two sons, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Chitrangada Singh.

She was born into Nepal's royal family; her grandfather, Judd Shamsher Jang Bahadur, was the head of the Rana dynasty and served as the Prime Minister of Nepal from 1932 to 1945. Additionally, she was the daughter of the Army General of Madhesh Province in Nepal, as per the Business Today report.

The family, senior BJP and Congress leaders mourn the loss. Her contributions have left an indelible mark on the lives of many.
