YouTube TV announced that it would be coming this spring, and today is the day. Starting today, you can subscribe to Cinemax, HBO and HBO MAX through your YouTube TV subscription.

It doesn’t appear to be showing up for everyone just yet though. YouTube said it would be available this morning, but we only started seeing it on our account about an hour ago. So this looks like it might be a staged roll out.

What’s so great about subscribing through YouTube TV?

Subscribing to HBO MAX through YouTube TV is a really great option, as you can easily cancel and re-add the service to your account with the click of a button. Which is what makes cord cutting so enticing. And you also don’t need to download the HBO MAX app to use it. On top of that, you can record everything. So if there are some shows or movies that are being removed from HBO MAX, you can still watch them if you recorded them. Which is very neat.

However, being able to control all of your premium networks from a single website is really useful. This is a big reason why we love Amazon Prime Video Channels. However, HBO MAX is not available on Amazon Prime Video Channels. At least not yet.

How can I subscribe to HBO MAX through YouTube TV?

Subscribing is super simple. Just open up YouTube TV – whether that’s the app on your phone, TV, or even the website.

Then tap on your profile picture. And click on Settings.

In the “Membership” panel, you should see the different networks that you can add. Just select HBO MAX or whatever other network you want to add, and then you’re good to go.

YouTube TV will give you the seven-day free trial and once that free trial is up, it’ll charge you for the remaining part of the month. For instance, for my account, my free trial would end on June 3 and YouTube TV renews on June 18. So YouTube TV would charge me $7.33 for the remainder of this month, when the trial expires on June 3.

It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to subscribe to both HBO and HBO MAX though. Seeing as HBO MAX is mostly the same, but with a lot more content – it has all of the WarnerMedia content available. And since they are both $15 per month, it’s a better idea to just get HBO MAX.

Depending on which side of the country you’re on, you may get different HBO channels. But with HBO MAX, you’ll get HBO2 East, HBO Family East, HBO Zone East, HBO Comedy East, HBO East, HBO Signature East and HBO Latino East. Obviously those on the west coast will get the west coast versions.
