1000 Greatest Albums of All-Time
After two-plus years since I first published this list, I have decided to add a formal caption. To quote the brief, original caption, "this list will forever be a work in progress and never see a final form." This is as I religiously continue exploring music, new and old, across every genre, attempting to expand my musical horizons. While we all have our inherent biases, I try to paint a much more accurate picture of the history of the LP (a term I use loosely) than any of the mainstream publication's all-time great lists.
At first, this was my response to "Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time," hence the "tastemakers" inherent biases and ignorance. Since my original top 500, this list has grown into the current form of a top 1000 and become a hobby cataloging the best LPs ever created.
Consisting of compilations featuring songs dating back to the 1920s to releases from 2022 here's to forever exploring the beautiful medium of music.

I continue to expand my music library and it seems like every year I find something new I love and surprises me. In 2023, it was that country really is not all that bad, and there actually is a lot to like in the genre. Every year I find new artists I learn to love and that is what makes this site great. Here is to a strong 2024.

Listener's Diary: Yogurt Edition
When I started my 2017 version of my favorite albums, I made the conscious decision to start writing down my thoughts about each and every album I listen to. What I have learned from this experience is that regardless of how good or bad my reviews are, I have been enjoying music more recently than I ever had before. When I force myself to really discuss the album (albeit by myself generally), and think about what exactly I like or dislike about an album or even a song, I find myself liking it a lot more than I originally did. I discover new aspects I like, or dislike, about everything I hear now.

Edit: I have started to find forcing myself to write about every album just hinders my ability to listen and move on to new albums... so if I have nothing to say I am not forcing myself to anymore. Life happens, sometimes I just do not have the time, or energy.

Pretty self-explanatory really. I don’t claim to be an expert on metal, I’m just a very enthusiastic amateur that likes to take in as much of the genre as I can; please take these mini-reviews lightly and with a grain of salt.
Biased towards OSDM, black metal (especially with melodic and atmospheric secondaries), death/thrash, USPM, grindcore, death/grind, and funeral doom.
Neutral with trad, goregrind, powerviolence, crust/neocrust, brutal death metal, dissodeath, anything with a post prefix, atmospheric black metal, melodic black metal, speed metal, thrash metal, blackened death metal, mathcore, war metal, and traditional doom metal.
Biased against slam, deathcore, metalcore, nu metal, pornogrind, technical death metal, melodic death metal, neoclassical metal, symphonic metal (especially symphonic black metal),

Another boring one of these lol. I want to approach this as more of a diary of concerts I've attended and bands I've seen live. That doesn't always manifest in the way of commentary, but will always be chronological in most recent order, listing artists I saw on the same bill next to each other in descending order from the headliner/who went on last, meaning multiples of artists exist but aren't usually next to each other.
This goes back to 2009 when I started attending shows around the age of 15, so for that reason this list will probably never be completely accurate but I'm doing my best to list every live artist I've ever seen (who is listed on RYM). Again that's probably an impossible task when considering house shows, friends' bands, that never got big, etc. but I think this list is MOSTLY complete, especially regarding larger scale gigs as I've kept fair track of that throughout the years.

But I’m reformatting the list some and I will do a compendium consisting of 1) the best new viewing meaning my favourite flick I hadn’t seen before that respective month, 2) worst viewing of the month and 3) best overall viewing.
