The movie follows popular but temperamental singer and music teacher, Vikramaditya, who takes a talented and aspiring singer, Tina, under his wings. He helps her hone her skills and motivates her to do better. When Tina finally gets a taste of success, despite being happy about it, Vikramaditya becomes jealous and bitter about his student’s success. Slowly, he starts rebuffing her and knocks down her confidence. Their relationship turns toxic when Vikramaditya competes to outdo Tina at every turn. But, things take a turn when he realises his mistake and takes a drastic step to mend his ways. This moving tale will tug at your heartstrings with singer-actor Lucky Ali fitting into the character like hand-in-glove.

Inspector Gautam Dharmadhikari (Sudesh Berry) and Siddharth Dharmadhikari (the late Siddharth Ray) are stepbrothers – sons of Justice Krishnakant Dharmadhikari (Anupam Kher). They hate the sight of each other and leave no chance to humiliate each other in public. Gautam hates Siddharth because he is his father’s illegitimate child and the latter hates the former because he gets to use their father’s name. However, the two team up when their father’s life is threatened and they must work together to save him.

The josh is definitely high in this action-packed romantic drama that stars Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chandrachur Singh, and Sharad Kapoor in pivotal roles. Max (Shah Rukh) and Prakash (Sharad) lead two rival gangs of Vasco, Goa the Eagles, and the Bichhoos, respectively. The two gangs are always getting into trouble because of their fights. Their lives take a dramatic turn when Prakash’s brother, Rahul, arrives in Vasco. Max’s twin sisters, Shirley (Aishwarya) and Rahul fall in love. Adding to the chaos is Max and Shirley’s childhood secret that upends their lives forever. Trouble mounts for Max when he accidentally kills Prakash during a bloody fight.

This heartwarming movie revolves around an elderly couple – Raj and Pooja Malhotra – and shows how their lives drastically change after Raj’s retirement. The couple is forced to separate and take turns in living with their children. During their stay with their children, they are mistreated and disrespected. They soon realise their children’s selfishness, and despite making sacrifices for them, the couple is met with animosity. The only good thing that comes out of this is they get to bond with their grandchildren. This is juxtaposed against Raj and Pooja’s relationship with their adopted son Alok and his wife Arpita (Mahima Chaudhry), who treat them with respect and love. The movie boasts an ensemble cast featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Paresh Rawal, Lillete Dubey, Rimi Sen, Samir Soni, and Aman Verma among others.

5. Refugee

The critically-acclaimed movie marked the debut of two Bollywood superstars – Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The plot follows Refugee (Abhishek), who helps people cross the border and go to Pakistan, illegally. His life changes when he falls in love with Nazneen (Kareena), the daughter of one of the immigrant families he helps crossover to Pakistan. The movie then focuses on the numerous roadblocks the duo faces and Refugee’s narrow escape from death when he is caught by the BSF.

Raghunath, aka Raghu (Sanjay Dutt), hails from a middle-class family staying in a chawl. He and his friend, Chandrakant, aka Dedh Footiya (Sanjay Narvekar), put up a pav bhaji stall. All is going well for the two as they have finally achieved their dream of becoming financially stable. That is till a scuffle breaks out at their stall and Raghu ends up killing a local goon Fracture Bandya’s brother. His rival, Vitthal Kanya, provides shelter and protection to the two and Raghu and Dedh Footiya slowly rise the ranks in his party and become one of the most powerful local leaders. The movie also stars Deepak Tijori, Mohnish Behl, Namrata Shirodkar, Reema Lagoo, Namrata Shirodkar, and more.


7. Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge

Sapna (Karisma Kapoor), who is raised by and lives with her three uncles, longs for freedom. Her uncles – Bhola (Om Puri), Prabhu (Paresh Rawal), and Vicky (Anupam Kher) — want Sapna to behave a certain way and don’t allow her to go out of the house or make friends fearing for her safety. Fed up with her dull, boring life, Sapna runs away on a solo, foreign trip to have some fun with help from her youngest uncle, Vicky. During the trip, she meets and falls in love with Raja Oberoi (Salman Khan). On returning to India, they seek help from Vicky to win over Sapna’s other two uncles.
