Southampton fans were pleased to see Yoshida back in the lineup for Fulham win
Southampton got back on track and climbed out of the relegation zone with a much-needed victory over fellow strugglers Fulham at St Mary’s last night.
The Cottagers saw off the Saints in Claudio Ranieri’s first match in charge earlier on this season but the sides have gone in opposite directions since that.
That was proven in the comfortable nature of the 2-0 win, secured by goals from Oriol Romeu and James Ward-Prowse to lift Southampton above Cardiff and above the drop zone.
After a defensive shambles against Arsenal at the weekend, Maya Yoshida was restored to the Southampton backline for last night’s huge game.
Ralph Hasenhuttl was rewarded for that decision with a clean sheet on an important night which gave his side’s survival bid fresh impetus.
The supporters were pleased to see Yoshida’s name back on the teamsheet and they feel his leadership and commitment has been sorely missed at the heart of the backline.
We’ve put together the best of the reaction from supporters who are basking in the glow of a victory against a relegation rival and want to see Yoshida more often as the business end of the season draws close…
