Yonge Street

Top ways to experience Yonge Street and nearby attractions

The area
Neighborhood: North End
The North End is a nucleus of specialty food restaurants and shops, especially around its Mount Pleasant Village area. Frequented by antiquers for its numerous collectable shops, furniture spots, and oddity stores, the North End is a maverick of the quaint and quality. Vintage toy stores, accessory shops, and cinemas welcome perusers to step back in time, while the wide pedestrian squares and the large medical and business community inject it with a dose of modernity. With numerous cafes and Toronto's greatest number of independent booksellers, it isn't uncommon to see folks in this area at their leisure, reading outdoors and in eateries, and taking life a bit more slowly – even if it's only during their lunch break.

Whilst the food was good, the prices are ridiculously high. Worst of all you, cannot have a conversation as the place is so noisy and added to that there is loud music. The owner has no clue about using acoustic materials to absorb the sound. Would never go back.

On our recent visit we were on this street several times from Harbourfront to Carlton. Lots to see, lots of cafes restaurants bars and access to Eaton Centre from the street. The part from Dundas Square to Carlton Street has been cleaned up considerably since our first visit in 1993, but there are still some not so nice parts, but it is worth strolling through. We miss Sam The Record Man record shop, but the logo is featured on a superb mural near Gerrard Street and the neon sign from the shop is at Dundas Square. Interesting busy street.

We love Younge Street. Here you’ll find everything from shopping and restaurants, to street performers and other forms of entertainment. We have several favorite restaurants on this street. The performers and live music is always fun to see. We could spend a nice chunk of the day here.

I like Yonge Street! I think it gets a bad rap for things that any big city would struggle with. Yes there are homeless people and yes it’s packed all the time. But it’s also fun!! There is so much to see and it really feels like you’re in the middle of everything.

The impact of cannabis in Toronto cannot be understated and especially in the upper sections of Yonge Street. The smell is very strong and there are loads of people lying on the floor or begging. Even on the public transport you can be pestered and disturbed by people on a high.
If you are going and require a hotel I suggest you select one near to the water front or Union Station and thus avid most of Yonge Street.

The longest street in the world and it is full of all types of entertainment and activities. It has the large shopping mall Eaton Center. Theatres, Business Centers and hotels. Caution is needed if you walk late at night as accidents might happen. Parking is available around.

It really is the longest street in the world and offers so much. Super busy in the downtown core and more chill the more north you go. It has everything from high end shops to local/down-to-earth ones, it has tourist attractions, honestly everything, it just depends what part you're on.

Yonge Street runs right through the heart of Toronto and is one of the most interesting streets to explore. Find a place to park and get out and walk the street. Enjoy the vibrant street life and the varied architecture, from old traditional building to modern skyscrapers. There are many interesting places to eat and you can find almost anything here.

We had a large Hawaiian with an extra topping of Asiago cheese. The pizza tasted extra good. Delivery was on time, and the driver friendly. All good.

Young street is 1,178 miles (1,896 km) long and it’s not the longest street in the world it could only be called the longest street in the world if "Highway 11" and "Yonge Street" were synonymous, which they are not. Young street is just another street it runs the gambit between upscale and rundown the traffic along Younge Street is awful at best and is in no way a tourist attraction.
