I've had this # show up on my caller ID a few times over the last couple of weeks. There is never anyone on the other line. Probably another scam. Either that of it's "Bring your 5-year old to work day and let him play with the phones while you go have a pee."

This phone number (1-800-255-6775) called my mobile phone. I believe it is possibly a scam in an attempt to steal your social security number as it ask me to either enter my 10 digit phone number or to enter my full social security number to get account information.

Got a call from this number today and yes, it is a SCAM. They are posing as a collection agency but are just trying to get your personal information. I ran my credit report and I have no outstanding balances. BEWARE.

I have received two phone calls from 1-800-255-6775 (Creidt Protection Associates) within the past two weeks to include a call this evening (26 Jan 2011)..  The caller said the call for for a" Mr. Wilson.  That is not my name.  The caller (perhaps a recorded message) indicated that if I am not this person, I can hang up.  The person left another Tel# for Mr. Wilson to call which I did not copy down but which seemed to be different from the number on my Caller ID. Since the above tel.# was on my Caller ID, I called and the voice on the other end indicated I should submit my 10-digit 'Reference Number" which supposedly is my account number with CPA or punch in my complete telephone number. I do not have a Reference Number and I did not want to provide my Tel# since it no longer belonged to Mr. Wilson.  I was on hold until another Associate became available but got tired of holding and humg up wothout speaking to anyone.  The purpose of my call was to tell them "Mr. Wilson' no longer had this tel# since I had been assigned it 6 Jan 2011.  I did not call back a second time after reading all the posted comments pertaining to this 800 number.  This may or not be a scam but it seemed like it might be a genuine collection agency to whom a person can pay an amount owed.  I do not know enough to pass judgment but I think I eventually would have spoken to a live person if I had stayed connected long enough.

I got a letter from a company said to be a collection agency collecting for Brighthouse Networks and that I owe them $639.00.  The bottom of the letter has 800-255-6775 listed as their company's phone number but when I called, it went straight to a busy signal.  They also have my SSN wrong on the letter

Got a call from this number just now on my cell phone. When I answered, there was a pause, then a beep like you would get from an answering machine. I hung  up without saying anything. Will be putting this number on my block list as well..

Was contacted by this company telling me that my wife owed $366.66 and they were to collect the debt.  Problem 1 is they have her SSN number correct but her name is wrong. Problem 2 is that she passed away 2 years ago.  Oops.  This shows to be a debt from 2012, she passed away in 2010.  From what I can tell this is a total scam.

This is in fact a collection company.  Bright House networks uses this company to chase debts.  However, many of those debts are illegitimate and without basis, either due to uncorrected accounting error at Bright House or contrived charges after a customer terminates Bright House services.
Bright House is a horrible company.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Letters from them indicating I owe National Grid money! I don't but sent letters to national grid. I feel bad about unguided seniors that would pay it. Something needs to be done about this
