The biblio- and biographical notices as well as the necrologies fisted by the editors (KS xlii-xliv) are too brief to draw a satisfactory picture of Jolly's education; of his contacts with older and contemporary scholars (e.g., Buhler, who, he said, "handed [manuscripts] over to myself and other junior scholars to help us in the editing of these texts," Indian Antiquary 27, 1898, 382; KS 1195); of his support of younger scholars (e.g., Karl Scriba, who thanked Jolly "fir die vielfaltige, nie ermudende Unterstutzung, die er mir bei der vorliegenden Arbeit zu Teil werden less," Die Fragmente des Pitamaha, 1902: 5); in short, of any circumstances in Jolly's life that teach us more about the man behind the scholar as we know him from his works.

Hallett draws on a wide range of (almost exclusively textual) sources to seek to answer these questions--including chronicles, necrologies, obituaries, letters, personal notes, as well as autobiographical and biographical lives of individual nuns.

Eugene Thacker undertakes a history of the body politic as a symbol of political order in the history of political theory, pivoting to discuss the dissolution of the body politic: its necrologies. I see no reason in principle why "making die" could not be integrated into a Foucauldian conception of biopolitics, although it would require a reconsideration of negative power and complex, tandem operations of negative and positive power.

The necrologies given by PM Nikola Gruevski and Culture Minister Elizabeta Kanceska Milevska are not enough because much more needed to be said for the personage and work of Gane Todorovski.

Maybe, I reasoned and hoped, one or more of them married American Orthodox and Conservative rabbis and, thus, their lives might have been chronicled, if references to widows' works turned up in necrologies and obituaries of their spouses.
