    Cannot access my Yahoo mail

Using windows 10, I have suddenly been unable to open my Yahoo mail. I can access the Yahoo.com website, SOMETIMES I can successfully sign into my Yahoo account and even preview my mail when clicking on "Mail". Other times I cannot even sign into the account. On the times I can sign in, if I hover over the "mail" I get a spinning wheel. If I click on "mail", it will pull up a preview. If I go to the bottom of the preview and click on "go to mail", all I get is the ascending/descending balls in the Yahoo tab, at the top of the page until it finally times out telling me "Can't connect securely...outdated or unsafe TLS security settings". I get the same results whether using the saved favorite from my toolbar in Windows EDGE browser or manually entering it from Google.
I can access my mail, with no problem, from my iPhone and my Windows 7 laptop, at home. My Windows 10 uses a secondary security sign-in measure of texting my phone with a four digit code to enter into the Windows 10 sign-in box. For the past 4 months, I have had no problem with sign-in or mail. Last week I took my laptop with me to a jobsite, out of town, and connected using the hotel wifi. All was well for 3 days but on the 4th morning it showed connected to wifi but NO internet service. I assumed a glitch with the wifi and connected with my phone as a hotspot. Upon returning to the office and connecting via our wifi, that's when the problem started. I also use Rackspace for my company email account and had problems with it. At first, I could not access the home page for either Rackspace OR Yahoo. I did a "clean-up" and removed a program that I did not recognize and am able to fully use my Rackspace mail. Also, when theses problem started I was able to access any other website, no problem. Just my email accounts were problematic. I installed Malwarebytes "free trial", performed a scan and quarantined 141 potential threats. This did not help with Yahoo mail. FYI, a few weeks before this problem started, when going to any website from the EDGE browser it would show connected in the upper tab but I would have a blank screen. If I clicked the refresh icon I would get the webpage. That has improved to occasionally, since the Malwarebytes clean-up. I consider myself an entry level-to-novice computer user and don't know where else to turn. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

    - Have you tried connecting to Yahoo with any browser other than Edge ?

    - If you frequently travel, I am sure you are aware of the dangers of public wifi.

    - May want to do another free online scan with Kaspersky, ESET, etc. What is your AV ?

My next diagnostic step was to install Firefox and try it with that. I just can't help but think that something, maybe a setting, has changed since it previously worked fine.

I plead naivety, since I am NOT a frequent traveler. I am learning.

I was not aware of a FREE Kaspersky, but I will look for it. It is a company provided laptop and I was told that Windows Defender is all I would need, at the time it was issued. Maybe if it is only used "in-house"? I'm beginning to think differently.

You may also want to try Internet Explorer 11 to open Yahoo. Just type "Internet Explorer" in the search block (bottom left) and pin IE to the taskbar.

If your company has its own IT Dept, may want to check with them.

OK...I downloaded free Kaspersky scan. It found 9 "problems" but offered no solutions. They were all "potential" security issues but found no virus or malware. I downloaded Firefox and things got a little weirder. I finally went to Google, typed in Yahoo and clicked on login.mail. It brought up the sign in page and after entering my email address it said it was sending a notification to my phone. I got the notification but it would never open up to allow me to enter the code. After three failed attempts I closed the browser and reopened it (with Google set as my homepage), typed Yahoo and clicked to open yahoo.com, NOT Yahoo Mail or login. When the Yahoo homepage came up I clicked to "sign in" and from there opened my mail. Successfully. WTF!!!! I have worked in automotive/motorcycle electronic diagnosis and computer engine management systems for decades, now. I know, those are more akin to PLC's than PC's, but I cant help but feel that this is a "small thing" that is driving me nuts. I am to the point of taking the laptop to a "professional" to get it cleaned up and working properly before installing a genuine "paid for" Kaspersky AV. I used Kaspersky a couple years back and was very pleased with it. Maybe I am misguided but I want to believe that, at my level of "user awareness/knowledge", if I pay for the services it might get fixed.
BTW, we have no IT dept., its every man/woman for themselves.

Would not recommend until you have exhausted all avenues. Should be able to find the issue. Defender, with a 3rd party scan, works for many users.

    - Still no luck with Edge or Internet Explorer ?

    - May want to contact Yahoo Customer Support.

    - You may want to try a System Restore or System Reset if it would make you more comfortable. Click on "Tutorials" at top of page if you need more info.

    - Also, since this thread has not received many replies, may want to ask mods to move it to the AV Forum. Go to the Win 10 News Forum and click on a thread at top of page started by Brink. Send him a PM asking that the thread be moved.
