Sadio Mane has played his last game for Liverpool.

The curtains have been drawn on a spectacular six-year stint on Merseyside in which time Mane has lifted the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and FIFA Club World Cup titles.

The Senegalese forward has won the Premier League Golden Boot and scored more than 100 goals in England's top-flight, but has now turned his attention to pastures new with Bayern Munich.

Mane's Liverpool greatness

And while Kopites are still digesting the news that Mane has pulled on the famous red jersey for the final time, there's no denying that he's left many incredible memories for them to remember him by.

After all, it's no small statement within the context of Liverpool's rich history that Mane genuinely ranks amongst the greatest ever players to have turned out for the men's senior team.

Even if you brushed aside the statistics, records and silverware, the simple fact of the matter is that Mane brought a kind of magic to Anfield that only the world's very best players can deliver.

But don't just take our word for it because the will of thousands of football fans also perpetuates the frankly uncontroversial argument that Mane is one of Liverpool's finest ever footballers.

Some questionable decisions...

Wowsers. It's fair to say that the collective voice of the people doesn't always lead to the best results.

Pleased as we are to see a podium of Gerrard, Dalglish and Rush, we can't help wanting to cringe ourselves into oblivion at the sight of Torres finishing above Hunt, Reina besting Clemence and Carragher overcoming Hansen.

Perhaps understandably, there does seem to be an element of bias towards more recent players, but it's still a tough pill to swallow that Thompson, Hughes, Neal and Souness finish in such average positions.

However, as far as Mane is concerned, we're inclined to think that 16th is a pretty fair reflection of his standing in Liverpool history considering the sheer saturation of legends up and down the list.

As much as we can put our nostalgia hats on and bask in Liverpool's rich history, the reality is nevertheless that Jurgen Klopp's current side is right up there with the greatest that the club has ever seen.

On that basis alone, it's only right that Mane comfortably ranks amongst the best players to have ever pulled on the Liverpool jersey - and that's something to be truly proud of. Good luck, Sadio.
