Disappointing-too many unwanted likes, not enough locals
OK Cupid. A dating app/site run by the the Match Group who also run Match.com, Plenty of Fish, Tinder, Our Time amongst other brand dating names.
Unfortunately, disappointing. Been on and off it in last 9 months and in the past month took up their half price one month premium membership.
I live in Central Scotland but just not enough users, to be honest Tinder has far more choice and wider used nowadays which is why it is the most popular.
As for likes received, all came from African countries, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda and then the Philippines. My settings are for within 50 miles of where I live and though nothing against those of African/SE Asian ethnicity, they are not my type and so are not in my chosen preferences. However, all the likes are pretty much from there.
I asked OK Cupid Customer Services how can I choose to only receive interest from those within my distance and their response was "I'm sorry to hear you have received likes outside your distance range.
What you experienced is considered expected behavior. The preferences dictate who YOU see in your stacks and recommendations. However, the likes are decided by who likes you even if they are not in your preferences or deal breakers.
Please be aware that Dealbreakers will allow you to change your view but people from around the world can still like your profile if you are visible to them based on their deal breakers. As a result, people from other parts of the world can and may like your profile."
So a disappointing experience, not enough users even within 50 miles or a higher populated area and the stack often runs out quick and I cannot even control who sees my profile.
I do really like the questions aspect of the app and being able to really start to portray a view of one's self via this but without the controls that those looking want and a bigger customer base, I am afraid, the subscription is cancelled and I cannot rate it more than 2/5.
Monthly regular cost without a bundled month package is £36.99 per month which for what the app gives is in my opinion way too expensive. If there was better verification, far more users and more location controls dictated by your own settings and far more likely to meet someone within's one locality, then the price might be considered to be fairer.
Needs much more rigour and users Match Group if you are listening.
