How Rufus became Street Fighter's most hated character

Today we're talking about a character from Street Fighter 4 who failed on all of these fronts so hard that he's arguably the most hated character in franchise history.

That character was the big-bellied and even bigger-mouthed Rufus, Capcom's off-putting amalgamation of some of the worst American stereotypes. But what exactly about the character made him so unlikable and does he really deserve the crap reputation he's garnered?

Mortal Kombat 1's next character is bringing something even more disgusting than the franchise's trademark gore

The next big, recognizable face headed to Mortal Kombat 1 is Superman spinoff and The Boys' central antagonist: Homelander. We got our first in-game view of the great American villain when NetherRealm Studios dropped his reveal trailer on Sunday.

The 45 second showcase primarily portrayed animation sequences as opposed to actual gameplay, but quickly reminded us of something we'd actually forgotten about Homelander: his very presence will take Mortal Kombat's trademark shock/gross out content to new heights, albeit through more than just gore.

Mark Hamill confirmed to voice Joker in MultiVersus

We thought we recognized that voice in Wednesday's surprise Joker reveal trailer for MultiVersus, but with as many times as we've heard imitations of Mark Hamill's take on the iconic Batman villain, it can be hard to know for sure.

We've now got confirmation that Hamill is indeed returning to voice the character he's second most known for, meaning we'll hear him juxtaposed with the late Kevin Conroy as Joker and Batman trade blows in yet another venture.

26 year old rumor finally brought to life as Akuma is now playable in Resident Evil 2

We're patiently counting down the days to Akuma's Street Fighter 6 release on May 22, but the iconic, demonic character has made his way into another Capcom game: Resident Evil 2.

Those who actively played the 1998 title may have caught wind of a rumor put out by Electronic Gaming Monthly (they're the ones who famously did the Sheng Long hoax for Street Fighter back in 1992) claiming that players could replace Leon Kennedy with Akuma if certain criteria were met. This wasn't true, but modders here in 2024 have brought the idea to life and it's exactly what you'd imagine it to be.

Street Fighter's Balrog takes on the legend who inspired his creation in this epic stop motion battle against Mike Tyson

It's no secret that the Street Fighter franchise's original hard-hitting boxer, Balrog, was designed with boxing legend Mike Tyson in mind. In fact, Balrog started out as somewhat of a parody/tribute to Tyson — similar to what Fei Long is to Bruce Lee — and even had a different name in Japan that reflected this.

It would be the ultimate bout to see Balrog take on Mike Tyson in a good, old-fashioned boxing match, and talented stop motion artist PlasticAction has gone ahead and created what that could ultimately look like if it actually played out. Instead of being in the style of something like Death Battle, though, this fight is depicted with awesome action figures and, as you'd expect, stop motion.

Evo Japan 2024 champion MenaRD gets new Street Fighter 6 Blanka-inspired hairdo in honor of character he won the tournament with

Bandits|MenaRD made history late last month by taking 1st place in Street Fighter 6 at the giant major fighting game tournament, Evo Japan 2024. Using a combination of Luke and Blanka throughout the event (though he closed grand finals out with the latter), Mena became one of the only players to ever win both Capcom Cup (he won it twice) and an Evo event.

In the past, the Dominican champion has been known to get his hair styled in a way that is relative to his fighting game career. This time, Mena has returned with a fresh cut that is meant to resemble Blanka's own hair in Street FIghter 6 — and it looks clean as hell.

Here's a friendly and terrifying reminder why you should never let yourself get burnt out against A.K.I. in Street Fighter 6

A.K.I. isn't considered one of the stronger characters here in the current version of Street Fighter 6, but that doesn't mean she can't be effective in the right hands. Some of her tools, when utilized in certain ways and situations, can actually be absolutely devastating, and there is probably no better player who frequently puts this on display than content creator and pro competitor Broski.

He recently posted a Street Fighter 6 clip on Twitter that features the "new world record" for what he calls a "ggs" scenario, which essentially refers to the moment A.K.I. has her opponent burnt out and they no longer have any super meter. Once those criteria are met, A.K.I.'s win is basically guaranteed, and with this footage Broski gives us all a reminder of why it's incredibly important to never let yourself get burnt out against her if you don't have super meter.

Nic The Pixie boldly poses from all the best angles as Cammy White during cosplay

Cammy White has become a gaming icon since her debut in Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers back in 1993 for the arcades and 1994 for the home consoles of that era. Funnily enough, Cammy has become the most prominent over the other "new challengers" (Fei Long, T. Hawk, and Dee Jay) with the most appearances in the mainline series even though Cammy was traditionally one of the weakest characters throughout most versions of Street Fighter 2.

Luckily for Cammy fans, she's traditionally been a top tier or high tier combatant in her most modern appearances in the Street Fighter series. This is typically due to her speedy attributes, mobile approach options, and flexible frame data, though she often has below average vitality as a tradeoff.
