Does anyone know of any good places to buy quality watches at a discount? Tag Heuer etc Should I go to Macy's?
I don't know about a discount. I've always found Tourneau to be good and fair. If you have an old watch you want to trade in, you used to be able to do a "deal." (They'd give you some money off).
If you were an out of towner, you might be able to get the 11% discount at Macy's, but as a NYer, no.
Wempe on Fifth & 55th is also a very reputable watch store but again, no discounts that I know of.
Just did a quick websearch for
tag heuer AND discount in nyc
Amongst the websites that came up was one called timezone.com all about watches....with a forum like this. Here's the link on Tag Heuer

In the few minutes I read (I happened to be reading about Rolex), it sounds like most dealers will discount if you try to negotiate (unlikely at a place like Macy's). Also buying out of state (like NJ) saves tax. Also, it appears a lot of people are now buying quality watches used.

What are forum guidelines?I bought my TAG Heuer in Tortola (at the Tourneau there, but easily $600 less for the same watch as Tourneau here - and there was no tax), but as soon as I got back noticed the one I got (the Aquaracer with mother of pearl face) for a lot less on Amazon! Not sure if it was the same season or model number - I didnt want to look too closely and get sick!
My wife and I have both bought Tag Heuer watches at Woodbury Common and we were very happy with the watches and the price... There is a Tag Heuer store there which of course will give you the regular guarantee. If the size of the band has to be changed. they will do it in a short time while you are shopping for something else.
Head to Canal Street area and get a fake one for 15 bucks lol. Cant get a better discount than that. :)
