Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Mrs N HindleUnited Kingdom8 contributionsAbsolutely brilliant afternoon being shown around the Brewery by Kathy. The tour is really well planned and detailed. Lots of steps to climb but well worth the view of Bury St Edmunds when you get to the top. Kathy is very knowledgeable and so friendly. The beer tasting as part of the tour is great too. Lots of different ones to try and a free bottle to take home. Very much worth the money.Written 10 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MellWardTamworth, UK295 contributionsVery well set out and beautifully maintained. wonder-round at leisure and seethe delightful garfden.see Abbeygate and the ruins with homes built into themWritten 25 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Norman J12 contributionsA wonderful cathedral steeped in history and in a beautiful setting. The gardens behind are well kept and contain the remains of the older monastery. Walking round these gives a sense of how astonishingly large the site was originally. Also fascinated to see how modern houses have been built into the ruins themselves (and by modern I mean only a few hundred years old). The cathedral cat wandering about is quite friendly.Written 21 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MellWardTamworth, UK295 contributionsWhat an experience to wander around this lovely home. The rooms were
large and well furnished. Thestaff are lovely. We like to book a settee, buy a drink and snacks, and snuggle up together for a home-style film experience with great surround sound. Clientele here tend to be quiet and respectful of space. I'd like more arty films brutally in all we sport this place whenever we can.Written 18 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - corporate-lunchOxford, UK68 contributionsEven by the standards of small museums this stands out. We were just trying to kill an hour before lunch. There was an intelligently presented exhibition of female portraits. Every small child's dream of gruesomness in the Crimes and Misdemeanours section. And a massive explosion of David Hugh's sketches and work that was worth the price of admission in itself. A lovely, proud, confident and cleverly curated space. One of the gems of Bury St Edmunds.Written 8 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
