Yahweh – All Nations Music ft. Matthew Stevenson, Chandler Moore

Honestly, even as a worship keyboard player, I didn’t know about All Nations Music. Not until I heard this song. For those who don’t know about All Nations Music, this is a worship music collective of All Nations Worship Assembly — a church located in Chicago, Illinois.

Yahweh is a song off their debut album, Come Alive, which was released in 2020. And this song is, without a doubt, the most popular song of the group. And personally, I think it became a hit because it’s effortless to learn and sing. And secondly, because the music production is excellent and beautiful, especially the strings.

Lyrics Snippet

So we lift you high,
Yahweh, Yahweh

You alone deserve my worship
You alone deserve my praise
You alone deserve the honor

Awesome God – Hillsong

Awesome God is an old classic worship song we’ve all grown to love. Although this is a rendition by Hillsong, this song is originally written by Michael W Smith and is one of his most successful songs.

The chorus of Awesome God is a three-sentence song, making it one of the easiest worship songs you’ll ever come across. And that is one of the reasons why this song was so successful.

Since its release, there have been many different renditions by various artists and music collectives.

Lyrics Snippet

Our God is an awesome God
He Reigns from Heaven above
With wisdom, power, and love
Our God is an awesome God

Way Maker – Sinach

Way Maker is, undoubtedly, one of the most popular worship songs we have today. Released in 2015 by Sinach, a Nigerian gospel artist and songwriter, this song has taken the world by storm.

Since its release, many Christian artists have done different renditions of the song, including the legendary Michael W Smith. And the song is such a successful song partly because of how the Christian community embraced it.

However, the main reason why Way Maker is so popular is that it’s a very simple song. Just as I talked about in my easy piano worship songs article, the piano chords are easy to learn. And the lyrics are also very simple. This makes it an excellent choice of song for many worship leaders looking for a congregational song.

Lyrics Snippet

You are here, moving in our midst
I worship You; I worship You
You are here, working in this place
I worship You; I worship You

Way maker, miracle worker
Promise keeper, Light in the darkness
My God, that is who You are

Alpha and Omega – Israel and New Breed

Alpha and Omega is a song that came out in 2005. And since its release, it has been an anthem for churches worldwide. And to this date, this song remains relevant. Israel Houghton and New Breed performed and recorded this song in South Africa, and it’s one of the hit singles off the album Alive in South Africa.

Alpha and Omega is such a simple yet powerful worship song that exalts God and acknowledges how He is the beginner and the end of all things.

Lyrics Snippet

You are Alpha and Omega
We worship You our Lord
You are worthy to be praised

We give You all the glory

You are worthy to be praised

Falling On My Knees – William McDowell

Falling on my Knees is a song off William Mcdowell’s spirit-filled album Sound of Revival II: Deeper. And it’s, without a doubt, one of my favorite gospel contemporary albums.

It’s a song that ushers you to kneel and bow down in the presence of God as a sign of showing submission and worship to Him. And in turn, God opens your mind, eyes, and ears to see and understand things much clearer.

This is an easy Christian song you can sing as you pray to God and acknowledge His presence.

Lyrics Snippet

Falling on my knees
I bow, bow down

Some things I can’t see until
I bow

I can see clearly now
Here on my knees

Breathe (This is the air I breathe) – Michael W Smith

Breathe is also another song by Michael W Smith that is very simple lyrically and quite easy to sing. Most people know the song as “This is the air I breathe.” However, the title of the song is Breathe. And even after two decades, this song is still relevant.

Anyway, this is also an old classic song off the album, Worship, by Michael W Smith, released in 2001. The song acknowledges the fact that we can’t do anything without God. And that we need His guidance and direction through His word and His presence. It’s such a unique praise and worship song.

Lyrics Snippet

This is the air I breathe
This is the air I breathe
Your holy presence living in me
This is my daily bread
This is my daily bread
Your very word spoken to me

And I
I’m desperate for you
And I
I’m lost without you

King Of My Heart – Steffany Gretzinger & Jeremy Riddle

The first time I heard King Of My Heart, I couldn’t remember anything else in the song but the chorus — “You are good, You are good, oh, oh.” That stuck with me. So I googled exactly that, and lo and behold, I found it.

This is a song by Bethel Music led by Steffany Gretzinger and Jeremy Riddle. This was part of their album Starlight, released in 2017.

You may have to consciously learn the two verses of the song. But the chorus and bridge of King Of My Heart are very simple, and a congregation can sing along easily even when it’s their first time hearing it.

Lyrics Snippet

‘Cause You are good
You are good, oh oh
You are good
You are good, oh oh

You’re never gonna let
You’re never gonna let me down

The Blessing – Kari Jobe & Cody Carnes

The Blessing is one of my favorite Christian songs from 2020 to date. This is a song written by Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes, Chris Brown, and Pastor Steven Furtick of Elevation Worship. And this was part of Elevation Worship’s Graves into Garden album that was released in 2020.

I won’t classify this song as a worship song because it isn’t. Just as the song’s title depicts, it’s a prayer request song asking God to bless, protect, and show his grace and favor upon us. It’s also a song that restores our faith and belief in God, assuring us that he is with us and for us every step of the way.

The Blessing is a simple song you can sing as a benediction song before a church service closes. Or it could be a song you sing to reassure yourself that God is on your side.

Lyrics Snippet

The Lord bless you
And keep you
Make His face shine upon you
And be gracious to you
The Lord turn His
Face toward you
And give you peace

Let Your Living Water Flow – Vinesong

This is yet another old classic Christian song. I don’t know about the rest of the world, but this was quite a popular song in Africa. It was released in 2009 and is part of Vinesong’s album Vinesong: Africa’s Favorite Songs. However, none of the songs on the album were as popular as this one.

Once again, this isn’t a worship song. This is a prayerful song. It’s the type of song you sing when you’re praying, asking God to take control and handle all situations in your life. And it’s an excellent song because it’s straightforward to learn. And the melody is also quite easy.

Lyrics Snippet

Let Your living waters flow over my soul
Let Your Holy Spirit come and take control
Of every situation that has troubled my mind
All my cares and burdens onto You I roll

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
Sing to the father
Father, Father, Father

Spirit, Spirit, Spirit

Hillsong released “Who You Say I am” in 2018. And this song instantly became a hit. It is one of Hillsong’s most popular songs in recent times and is loved by many churches and believers. It was released along with sixteen other songs on their There Is More album.

This is not a song you can instantly sing along the first time you hear it. You may have to listen to it a few times or even check out the lyrics. However, once you get it, you’ll realize how simple of a song it is.

Lyrics Snippet

Who am I that the highest King would welcome me?

Oh, is free indeed
I’m a child of God, yes, I am

Let it Rain – Michael W Smith

It doesn’t get any easier than this. Let it Rain by Michael W Smith is one of the easiest Christian songs you’ll ever come across. And this song is also another hit single on Michael W Smith’s album Worship.

This is a very simple prayer song asking God to rain His blessings onto us.

The lyrics of Let It Rain have only two sentences. And this is sung repeatedly throughout the entire song. Which is why I said earlier, “it doesn’t get any easier than this”

Goodness of God – Jenn Johnson

Goodness of God is, without a doubt, one of my favorite Thanksgiving songs. This is because every time I hear this song, I reflect on the goodness of God in my life and my family. It’s an excellent thanksgiving song to let God know how grateful you are for all that he’s done.

This is a song on Bethel Music’s album Without Words: Genesis. And the song was led by Jenn Johnson.

Ever since its release in 2019, many artists have done several renditions of this song. The version that I personally love is Israel & New Breed” s version of Goodness of God.

Lyrics Snippet

I love You Lord
Oh Your mercy never fails me
All my days
I’ve been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head

All my life You have been faithful
All my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
I will sing of the goodness of God

Is all you are
Will you meet me here again
