As players explore the Ardenweald zone in World of Warcraft's Shadowlands expansion, they may see a rare called Strange Cloud appear on their mini-maps. However, fans that attempt to approach this rare's location will simply be stunned and left unable to fight the creature that hides within. Fortunately, it is not extremely difficult to engage the mob that is inside of Shadowlands' Strange Cloud, and this guide will describe exactly how that is done.

Summoning the Strange Cloud Rare in Shadowlands

The way to dissipate the Strange Cloud in World of Warcraft is to get the veiled creature involved in combat, and perhaps the easiest approach is to use a ground-targeted AoE. Indeed, spells like Rain of Fire and Blizzard can be cast on top of the cloud to quickly reveal the rare mob inside, and players without such any ability may want to enlist the help of someone that does. That said, there are ways for fans that do not have a targeted AoE to go about getting rid of the Strange Cloud, though some require a bit of patience.

Hunters can fight this new rare by using Eyes of the Beast on their pets and dragging an aggressive mob into the Strange Cloud. Demon Hunters in WoW, on the other hand, can use Spectral Sight to gain access to the foe, while Shamans can drop Earthbind Totems near it. And for classes that have AoE attacks that use the World of Warcraft character as their centers, simply running in and casting those spells before getting stunned should be enough.

Alternatively, World of Warcraft players can also try to get poisoned by one of the nearby moths, as the ticks of that DoT effect will break them out of the Strange Cloud's stun. This should allow fans to tag the rare inside without being teleported away. This is a great option for those that are not finding success with any of the aforementioned methods, as it does not require any class-specific abilities. After that, players can dispatch the Rare and collect their rewards, which may include:

  • Slumberwood Band
  • Coin of Brokerage
  • Abominable Stitching Friendly Bugs
  • Resolute Defender
  • Blood Bond
  • Creeping Crawler Meat
  • Nascent Sporepod
  • Anima Items
  • Unusually Large Mushroom
  • Eventide Monnion
  • Blackthorn Helm
  • Duskthistle Helm or Wristwraps
  • Eventide Leggings, Belt, or Gauntlets
  • Shimmerbough Gloves, Cord, Mantle, Wristwraps, Treads, Robe, or Hood
  • Blackthorn Girdle, Legguards, Warboots, or Wristwraps
  • Phaedrum Lockbox

The Strange Cloud Rare

With respect to exactly what the mob inside of the Strange Cloud is, players that disperse the fog will find themselves up against the Slumbering Emperor. This creature will drop the Slumberwood Band, a ring that puts nearby enemies to sleep if a player falls below 20% health, when slain, and it can be quite powerful. However, the effect will only occur once every 30 minutes, which means that players cannot always rely on it as they continue to explore WoW's Shadowlands.
