      Pretty much what you'd expect.

I've worked out at my fair share of WHC locations here in Edmonton and Calgary. This place is pretty much the same deal. I like going to this location because its kept clean and an overall good selection of equipment. The staff are like any other staff. Some are friendly and approachable and some I admit it feels like they wish you wouldn't bother them. I agree that sometimes the front desk staff barely say anything to you when you arrive but there have also been exceedingly friendly staff greetings too.

As for the people at the gym. There can definitely be that vibe that the "pretty people" work out here but you can't blame the staff for that. As long as you're confident enough to go about your business and just work out, we'll who cares about the "culture".

Ultimately I get what I expect for my dues. A clean and fairly well kept space to work out. What more do you expect from a gym?

I called to cancel my membership and they tried to tell me that the only way I could do that would be to go into the location. I told them absolutely not, I am not interested in going to the location and that they cannot force me to do so. I was passed from one person to another, and was finally given the email address that I could use to cancel the membership. This gives a bad name to gyms - reminiscent of the ridiculous Friends episode where Ross tried to cancel his membership and was given the run-around! I thought that was comedy, not documentary!

Scam artists! Robbed me of start up fees after lying about the payment frequencies. Don't waste your money here! They are liars and thieves! Wont return my start up fees after I confronted them about their sly tactics. STAY AWAY! Their new General Manager who's 4 days on the job is the most useless manager I've ever had to deal with. Put me in an office with the employee who lied as if we were supposed to "hash it out", literally your job as a manager is to defuse situations. Maybe needs a course or two on how to run a business. The best part is when that employee was confronted she couldn't deny that she wasn't honest. Gym is also dirty and the sauna along with most other facilities aren't even working. Lots of great gyms in the area. Take your money elsewhere!

Facility is clean and staff are always friendly. It's very convenient for me.
My issues come from cost. I knew what I was getting into, but I'm not happy about it.
Compared to other gyms in the area (Good Life and L.A Fitness) they are the most expensive, and do not necessarily offer any more than the others.
L.A Fitness is half the cost monthly, all the same amenities PLUS a pool..
If I didn't have to buy out my contract, I'd switch in a breath. Which, is another thing to be weary of.

Club fit is a nice enough place but it wasn't for me.

I'll start with the positives. They had a booster juice inside which was great for after workouts and... and... ??? Ya, that's about the only positive. I can't quite put my finger on why I don't like this place. It's not just the lack of equipment, I often found myself having to wait to get a machine or a weight and that slowed down my routine. It's also not the fact that people here are all so anti social, and I don't mean they need to talk or anything but they just look down right awkward. Everyone is so into themselves here, it's weird.

On top of all that the service is bad. When I wanted to cancel my membership it was eerily similar to that one Friend's episode. You know the one. Where Chandler wants to quit his gym and then they send him to keep talking to different people who just don't let him quit and he ends up trying to cancel his bank account instead so the gym can't make withdrawals from it anymore. That's exactly how I felt. They told me to talk to some person, then they sent me to another, and that person tried to make me explain why I wanted to quit before they would let me. No offense to anyone but if I want to cancel that's my business and at the end of the day that's what this place is. It is a business, don't expect anything extra.

I want to start this review off by first saying that I do not hate the World Health Club. In fact, I rather like their facilities and staff - at least the location I used to go to. [Kensington WHC] This review should not be taken as a reflection of all WHC locations, just this particular one.

Reception seemed pretty lazy; there were a couple of girls at the front desk. Only one was scanning despite the line-up and the other was reading a magazine.
I proceeded to the women's change room which I didn't find very clean. The washroom stall I used didn't have a napkin disposal box; that was awkward.

Someone else here mentioned the crowd being odd and 'very into themselves'. I'd have to agree. I walked out of the change room and felt suddenly very out of place and insecure. There were mostly men working out and it was like none of them had seen a female before. Eyes were always on me and it was extremely uncomfortable. The vibe between people was....I can't even put a finger on it. It was just a very uncomfortable atmosphere.

So, I went in search for the women's only section. I almost missed it because at first glance it appeared to be the broken down, reject equipment room. At my regular WHC the W. Section is fairly large, clean, bright, has at least 1 of every machine you could want, and an ample weight area.
This one was no such place. It was embarrassing and a bit offensive. The room [If you can call it that] was badly lit, had a weird smell, it had maybe 5 useful [but ancient] machines and a weight area that was only big enough for one person. The mirrors only came half way down the wall so, when I was trying to exercise on a mat I couldn't see if all the angles of my body were correct.

I went to the common area to find a bike to do some cardio on and OH MY GOD. It was the bike seat from hell. It was the smallest, hardest and most uncomfortable seat I have ever sat on. EVER. Two days later [today] my ass hurts so much from it I can barely walk. I know it's good when the gym makes you hurt but c'mon... I'm sure they don't mean that kind.

If they had a decent women's area, I could probably over look all other imperfections. But, it doesn't seem like I can work out comfortably here. Or for that matter even stand around without feeling gross.

But, hey! They have a booster juice! Just kidding. Booster Juice is a healthy choice facade. Which I don't appreciate them supporting. Maybe they should use some of that mad booster juice cash to improve what we're all actually there for - you know, the gym.

I'm not a big fan of Club Fit.

I had a membership there for years and I had to pay to cancel it. They are definitely in the business of making money.

They have a lot of equipment but it's usually pretty busy so you don't always get to do what you want to do. They have a small section for women only, which is nice but it's pretty small and there's not a lot to choose from.

It's a clean place though which is something I can definitely appreciate.

It's difficult to get help or attention from any of the staff. They are also in the money making business.

It's not my first choice of gyms. In fact, I will never get another membership here but it does seem to work for some people.

I don't really mind the World Health on 34th Ave. In general, I'm not a huge fan because it's too business driven. After spending a few months in Edmonton, I've sort of gotten quite numb to that business driven attitude, so it doesn't necessarily bother me.

The big advantage of World Health is that they've got so many branches to go to! And this particular branch is great because it's one of the 24 hour places. Not that I plan to come in at 2 a.m. at night to run on the treadmill, but the 24 hour aspect is perfect because it's superb for people who want to get into an early morning routine. The facilities are also quite good. They have a lot of equipment and have several classes daily, which is great for those looking to get into a weekly class routine.

A jamba juice connected with the gym. I'm not big into Jamba Juice and not at all interested in protein shakes, but many gym goers tend to love this stuff. It's worth the price and is right in the quarters of this gym.

Good gym and great trainers , but they go through so many receptionists and none of them look like they have a clue of what's going on. I paid off my personal training in full and still got charged a financing fee (clueless receptionist charged me) and even after paying it off in full would get calls over and over saying I hadn't paid it off. Got that sorted out My last payment was on Jan 19 , and it's Feb 16 now. They told me it would be back in my account the following week. NOPE 14 more business days till it's back in my account . So Feb 14 was the 14 days and on the 15th .I followed up again. Oh they just processed the payment on the 15th and I should see it in my account on the 16th. IT IS THE 16TH NOW . Called world health and got told to call the bank and the bank will take another 10-15 days to process it. So glad to be leaving this gym. They take a second to take your money but months to return it . All I get is attitude when I call the world health office to express my concern. Better off somewhere else. Glad to be leaving

Hello, the gateway world health is pretty good. I feel like I'm getting a good workout when I go there
My beef is the male bathrooms, you know guys will be guys but when there is an old guy on the toilet having a #2 with the door open. It is bad enough he runs around naked but have a little respect and close the bathroom stall door when taking a dump
