Bob Edwards has died at the age of 76.

Longtime National Public Radio host Bob Edwards has passed away at the age of 76, as confirmed by his wife, NPR reporter Windsor Johnston, in a Facebook post.
NPR CEO John Lansing also shared his condolences, stating, "Bob Edwards understood the intimate and distinctly personal connection with audiences that distinguishes audio journalism from other mediums, and for decades he was a trusted voice in the lives of millions of public radio listeners. Staff at NPR and all across the Network, along with those millions of listeners, will remember Bob Edwards with gratitude."
NPR's Susan Stamberg also issued a statement, saying, "Bob was an absolute master at his skill and left an indelible mark on the field of journalism. He was a stickler for even the tiniest of details and lived by the philosophy that 'less is more.' He helped paved the way for the younger generation of journalists who continue to make NPR what it is today."

Windsor Johnston, who anchors for NPR like her late husband, also serves as a college professor. Graduating from Temple University, she started her career as a morning news anchor and news director at WRTI from 1995 to 2011.
During 2004 to 2011, she also worked as an adjunct professor at Temple University. Her reporting credits include WHYY and Metro Network. In early 2011, Johnston joined NPR, where Edwards had also previously worked. Their relationship blossomed, and they tied the knot on December 28, 2011.
The couple's connection traces back to 2004 when Windsor Johnston interviewed Bob Edwards about his second book, "Edward R. Murrow and the Birth of Broadcast Journalism."
This marked Edwards' third marriage, with his first two to Joan Murphy and Sharon Kelly. He leaves behind two daughters, Eleanor and Susannah, from his second marriage.
