What travelers are saying
- ncstatevaRoanoke, VA124 contributionsThis museum is definitely worth the time to visit. The staff that handle the tours are quite knowledgeable. You actually walk in the rooms and don't just view them from behind a rope. They have the largest collection of personal items that belonged to Jackson.Written March 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ncstatevaRoanoke, VA124 contributionsGreat museum! We went on a Wednesday which happened to be their free admission day. The regular collection is quite expansive. I especially loved the old doll houses with the exquisite furnishings. They had a special exhibit at the time of drawings from Marvel comics. We spent quite a bit of time there.Written March 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MominOCOrange County, CA5,098 contributionsThere are no words to say how amazing this building is and the interior is equally amazing. Well organized and history preservation at the same time. The staff were very friendly. If we lived close we would be here often.Written August 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sharon MAbingdon, MD4,307 contributionsThis was so interesting. The house is located in a very old neighborhood so parking is very limited. Her house predated the Civil War and had been added onto over the years. The furnishings for the most part are not authentic but are old and really give the feeling of that era. There are many photographs throughout the house including the very last one ever taken of Patsy Cline. Our tour guide was wonderful. She played a 2 minute audio clip of Patsy on the Arthur Godfrey sow, where she got her start. It was so precious. It gave me chills.Written September 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Terri H26 contributionsThis is the oldest home in Winchester and if you are into history, a must see. - Sharon MAbingdon, MD4,307 contributionsThis is a very small museum but if you like history, it’s worth a look. It is a self guided tour. There is a lot to read and there are many artifacts to see. There is a small gift shop. Don’t miss the statue of Washington outside.Written September 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dewayne PElizabethtown, KY1,861 contributionsMy friend and I went on day it was closed; however, the gate happened to be open so we went in anyway. It is a private battlefield, so I would check times before driving over like we did. The board of directors was meeting there the morning we went and were so blessed to have the board president take time out of his day to give us a rundown of what actually transpired during both battles and the start of a battle in Winchester. The site is well maintained with plenty of markers/signs. Highly recommend.Written October 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - S. RHouston, TX32 contributionsThis is a wonderful museum and it kept our 5 yr old grandson busy for a few hours. Lots of hands on activities. It was hard to leave. It was a little cold on the day we went, so we only spent a few minutes on the upper floor (outside).Written October 22, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Unless you are dining or doing extensive shopping, one hour is plenty of time to leisurely cover the mall from one end to the other.
