While we all know that William Shatner has been around for a while, it turns out that the legendary actor has been in show biz for a stunning 69 years! Shatner's first role was on a small film called The Butler's Night Off in 1951, and he later trained as a classical Shakespearean actor.

Shatner's breakout role was in 1958's The Brothers Karamazov, and he spent most of the early 1960s in roles on shows like Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Twilight Zone, and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Shatner's big break came in 1966 when he was cast on Star Trek, and his career hasn't slowed down since.

As you can expect, Shatner's long career has made him a lot of money. Here's what we know about his net worth.

William Shatner's net worth is estimated to be $100 million.

While Shatner will forever be Captain James T. Kirk from Star Trek, his salary for the original TV series was on the lower side. He was reportedly paid just $5,000 per episode (which comes out to about $39,000 in 2020), and he was also guaranteed a $500 raise every season the series was renewed. And while residuals have made many of other actors very rich—the cast of Friends gets about $20 million a year—Shatner once revealed that he and the Star Trek cast initially didn't receive anything.

"The series Star Trek that I was in, was so early on, there were no residuals. So none of us ever have received residuals," he said, according to The Observer. "That came into being about three years."

Shatner went on to voice Captain Kirk in the Star Trek animated series and video games, and he appeared in six Star Trek movies. He was the director and writer of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, and it went on to make $70 million at the box office.

Shatner went on to star in shows like T. J. Hooker, Rescue 911, and Boston Legal, with the latter winning him an Emmy and a Golden Globe. Shatner has also starred in movies including Miss Congeniality and Over the Hedge, which is actually the most successful movie he's appeared in at the box office, earning $343 million.

The actor has also co-written a series of science fiction novels, as well as an autobiography and a book about his friendship with Leonard Nimoy. Shatner's music career has seen him release eight album, and of course, he's also known for those very clever Priceline commercials.

Ed note: a previous version of this story noted that Shatner owned a horse farm near Versailles, Kentucky, but Shatner has clarified that he does not own the farm.
