'Evil' Season 2 Netflix Release Date: When the Next Season is Out

Evil first aired on CBS in September 2019, but the show is currently getting a second life on Netflix. Since being released on the streamer earlier in October, the show has made it to the Netflix U.S. top 10 chart, where it is currently sitting at number three.

Fans of the supernatural drama who are only discovering it will be pleased to know that the show has already been renewed for Season 2. In October 2019, just weeks after the first episode aired, CBS renewed Evil as well as ordering more episodes of its new shows All Rise, Bob Hearts Abishola, Carol's Second Act and The Unicorn.

At the time, CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl said in a statement, "these terrific new series have attracted a passionate base of viewers and consistent ratings while delivering entertaining, inclusive and relevant storytelling every week.

"They're off to strong starts and are still being discovered on the many catch-up and playback options available to our viewers today. We're proud of this freshman class and excited about their potential to tell more great stories and further expand their audiences."

As for the release date of Evil Season 2, it could be coming to CBS this fall and/or winter. When CBS announced their fall line-up in May, the next season of the show has been given a time slot on Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET / 9 p.m. ET. At the end of August, TVLine reported that Evil Season 2 was coming to CBS in "November-ish."

'Evil' Season 2 is expected to come to Netflix in late 2021. Netflix

In early September, Evil's fellow CBS Studios films like Blue Bloods, SEAL Team and the Charmed reboot were given dates to restart filming. However, at that time, Evil was close to being greenlit but had not been given the go-ahead to start filming yet.

If Evil Season 2 does manage to come to CBS in November 2020, then the Netflix release date for the show is expected to be in late 2021. The first season, for example, began on CBS on September 26, 2019 and then came to Netflix on October 1, 2020, 371 days later.

This suggests that, if CBS manages to get Evil Season 2 out this November, its Netflix release date will be next November.

As for what will happen in the next season, series co-creator Robert King told Entertainment Weekly: "I think we underplayed Ben this year, because Ben is a fascinating character, as is [Aasif Mandvi] as an actor. I think we're going to meet his father [next season]. We're definitely going to continue the relationship [between Ben and Vanessa, played by Nicole Shalhoub].

"As someone who is scientifically based, how do you deal with a girlfriend who really thinks that she needs to detach herself from a phantom sister? There's a town upstate New York that deals with psychic phenomenon and fortune telling, so to see Ben go to this place with his girlfriend to try and solve it is kind of funny to us. Most of it will be things that bring Ben a little bit more to the forefront."

Evil Season 1 is streaming now on Netflix; Season 2 is coming soon to CBS.
