- Anthony SToowoomba, Australia22 contributionsThe short ride to the top of Neroberg in Wiesbaden on the Nerobergbahn is a unique experience. There are other cog-and-rack railways, but I'd never heard of this type that works by the weight of the water ballast. The tickets are only a few Euro.
When you reach the top of the Neroberg, there's a view of the city through the trees; if there's a grand panorama, we couldn't find it. There's a cafe to visit as well as the "temple".
It's a short, but very steep, walk to the "Greek Temple" (Orthodox Church). It's small, but worthwhile. Entry is free, a small donation is requested.
There's a little railway museum at the bottom, but unfortunately we didn't have time to visit.Written September 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's a beautiful view and nice little walk. - Tom Carter458 contributionsFrom the central railway station take bus 33 to the end of the line. Takes you around 20 minutes to get there. Expect lots of families (but it was not overcrowded). Place is well maintained, you can take the full tour in 2 - 2,5 hours at a leisurely pace.Written June 10, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Out This DoorMesa, AZ236 contributionsThe Germans know how to make a kurpark! We loved visiting the local city parks when we have traveled in western Europe and this one was no exception. We got up early due to jet lag and were walking before the city came alive for the day. Our hotel was right near the park so we walked the bowling green with the pretty statues and fountains. I’m a garden gal and the plants and layout was just lovely! There was a wide and level walking and biking trail that is ADA accessible. Most of the other people up that time were locals getting their exercise by jogging, biking or walking the dog. It was a very safe place—no vagrants, hardly any trash or tagging. No bathrooms open though. Many of the trails were along the houses which were extremely beautiful and well-kept which added to the ambiance of the park.Written September 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RamazanFrankfurt, Germany1 contributionA great way to spend a few hours in Wiesbaden. If you love Art Deco, it's a treasure; showcasing furniture, ceramics, lamps, many paintings and advertisement-art of the day. The special exhibit of Oskar Zwintscher introduced me to this artist and it was very well done. Also a smattering of modern art and some unusual creations, such as the one posted below, that I had never seen anywhere. This artist painted a 'relief' onto a tiny lightbulb; when lit, the face appears on the wall. It was very cool. There were also some science/nature exhibits that were fun and interesting. If you have a large bag or carry-all (or coat in the winter), you'll be asked to check it in a locker for one Euro. Small cafe and also gift shop. I recommend this highly if you have a free afternoon.Written December 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Anastasia VCleveland, OH63 contributionsThis dome shines on the hillside in Wiesbaden. Close up it was even better! - dolphin80Smithtown, NY741 contributionsThere are two casinos at this property. There is a higher end casino in the main building and a slots / machines only casino in the adjacent building. This review is for the latter. This place is very classy, small, but well appointed decor with a large variety of slot machines, and virtual machines, such as for roulette and blackjack. I didn't come out of here a winner, but I certainly got my entertainment value out of being here. Like anything else, have your budget of what you can lose and have fun. If you win, great, if you lose, well, you lost what you thought you'd lose going in. The grounds outside are beautiful, and you can walk outside and through the courtyard with the fountains. Behind the domed building, there is a massive & beautiful park that has trails that take you straight up in the Sonnenburg area if you're into walking.Written October 18, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tripsandfood55London, UK3,927 contributionsConstructed from 1892 to 1894 and open to the public since 1894. The theatre has four stages. The Great House (Main one with over 1k seats), the Small House (328 seats), the Studio (89 seats) and the Wartburg (136 seats). Impressive building that apparently hosts over 800 events per year.Written January 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Wingfield73Chiang Mai, Thailand967 contributionsThis spring is really hot! And there is a nearby fountain set in an attractive gazebo where the sulphur-rich water can be collected. All around the area there is sulpherous steam escaping from the manhole covers.
