And yet so many support servers I witnessed are grooming minors gosh top.gg literally made me get the police involved in a server trafficking children because a top.gg mod is in the server and 2 other mods protect the server i find it funny how it all accepted.
It's been that way for a while now from what I remember. I normally end up using either Pancake or YAGPDB for reaction roles as it's way better through them (And free).
Zira is another good, reliable, and also free bot for reaction roles.
What about CarlBot?
Iirc CarlBot is owned by same people.
Unfortunately carlbot is managed by botlabs which has questionable business ethics too. I'd avoid it if you can, but otherwise it's alright.
…YAGPDB and FredBoat are also managed by them so I would avoid them as well. There’s Sapphire, Atlas, Pancake, even Dyno
I use it for reaction roles as its simple and I haven't got around to figuring out how to use yagpdb to do them yet

I don’t care about the things their business does. It doesn’t affect how the bot runs and I don’t care as long as they keep reaction roles free. Also the reason MEE6 is so shit is because it’s owned by Discord or something like that. Edit: why did I get downvoted? I’m actually confused

Been using YAGPDB in numerous servers over the years, and it's been very reliable
SapphireBot has the button for roles as well as the reaction roles
I tend to just use dyno for everything, or polaris if i need levels
YAGDB is owned by botlabs, a shady company

Mee 6 has unfortunately made a turn for the worst. Been downhill since they jumped on the crypto/nft train...

Was finally able to snip the damn bot free from my server after creating my own banning and warning system on my own custom bot. The whole random DMing users was rhe last straw for us.

Their goal wasn't to be helpful. It was to participate in a discussion about a bad Discord bot. If you like using MEE6, just keep using it... or don't and google a replacement yourself.

Well, I still use Mee6 and I'm slowly weaning off. Like most people are saying, YAG bot is the best so far. I also finally started playing around with programming my own bot. I'm all for paying for a service if I need it. However most people who are ragging on Mee6 are people like myself who remember when Mee6 first made its debut. We watched it slowly grow and we' were amazed at all of its awesome features.
Then came the subscription...ok no problem..those who had the bot prior could still use the awesome features without a subscription. Now...just about all features are quietly being swept behind a paywall...an extra Mee6 Discord for the nft paywall...hmmmm...whats next?

Purity works well too. You can set custom experience rates and level thresholds, which is useful if you're migrating an existing server away from MEE6 and wanna transfer everyone's progress. Though for some reason the dashboard isn't linked anywhere on the main site.
If you want the level gain to be exactly like MEE6, use the following leveling values:
XP per message: 15–25
XP cooldown: 60 seconds
Level equation:
5 * (@level^2) + (50 * @level) + 100Then you'll have to grant each user an approximation of the XP they had with MEE6, which unfortunately has to be done individually as there's no import function. For large servers it might not be worth it unless you have a relatively small number of actually active users with levels higher than 5–10 (which can be reached in about a week or two if you're really active).
I use Polaris. It's the amazing (xp levels) predecessor bot to RoboTop
I use Amaribot. It’s very easy to use and no slash commands (yet)!
Thank you for the equation! I've been searching for this for a loooong time... I have everything set up from database, over commands, and even a web-dashboard that let's you customize the amount of XP per message, edit all commands, set roles for different levels and so on. This also comes with a online leaderboard. Next step is to make this feature scalable for every discord server, but that shouldn't be too hard

I'll have Mee6 to thank for my degree, i hated the premium paywall, and thought "it cant be that hard, i'll do it myself", i had never written any lines of code before, but i thought i'd try
Fast forward 3 years, studying computer science at university, i pay £1/mo to host my own bot which i develop, and whenever i see a feature on a bot that I can't access. I just make it myself.

I'd switch to a different level bot if I could easily transfer the levels from mee6
this is something i've been looking into for my own bot's future level system, i think the reason why other bots can't transfer is because mee6 uses images for the rank command and reading image text can be unreliable sometimes, especially if mee6 updated the rank card

And if I ever want to get money out of it at most I'd suggest donations here and there or custom things that don't change what you can access, just how it looks
(it's a music bot, so for example I'd make customizing the embeds a paid option or smth)
