Why did the Weimar Republic fail? Was it doomed from the outset? If so, what are we to make of Weimar’s manifold achievements: economic growth, sweeping social democratic legislation, and a cultural renaissance? In this course, explore the political and cultural history of the Weimar Republic and what it can teach us about the problems that confront US democracy today.
