KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person died following a crash on Interstate 435 near N.E. 48th Street that happened just after 11:30 Saturday morning.
According to the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department the crash involved freight liner tractor trailer and a Blue Toyota Corolla.
The crash happened in a construction zone on Interstate 435 going southbound.
According to KCPD, the construction was merging southbound lanes one and two into lane three. Several other vehicles were stopped in lane three and others were attempting to merge over from lanes one and two.
The tractor trailer was stopped in lane three due to the traffic of ahead. The Blue Toyota Coralla was travelling at high rate of speed when it drove into the rear of the the tractor trailer.
The driver of the Toyota died at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
