Tell me your favorite underground rapper ( or a rapper with less than 3000 monthly listeners on Spotify) and I will give them a rating for you.
Underground.
RA the Rugged Man.
I feel like he is a mix between Denzel Curry, Joyner Lucas, and J.I.D. I really like his flow and lyrics. it also helps that he is a more energetic rapper. 9.6/10
Wtf. I just checked because I thought he has to have more streams and yeah he has but 315 000 still seems a little underwhelming. I always thought there is no HipHop fan who doesn't know RA. He always felt like one of the go to underground Rappers
He's not as big as I thought either. I went to a gig of his maybe 3 years ago and there was less than 100 people there.
Amir Said
D O L L A D A Y aka Dinero DollaDay
Chris Pride
Edit these aren't my favourite underground rappers just some with really low monthly listeners sorry I read the question to sloppy. Anyways I still think they hav a place here.
Amir Said, 9/10
Dolladay, Couldn't find him
Chris Pride, 6/10
Mostly not bad but Amir is def the best. Would recommend to anyone that likes early 2000's style east coast rap.
These are they links because they aren't even that easy to find
AWOL One
7/10. He like the Jimi Hendrix of rap, he lets the beat out do his actual lyrics/flow. No hate to Jimi but Awol is a little weird. Just my Opinion.
He's from The Shapeshifters. They come from the Project Blowed scene in LA that gave us Freestyle Fellowship, Jurassic 5, Busdriver, and Medusa. Shapeshifters are definitely a little strange, but they're true BBoys from the old school.
yeah thats what i liked ab them was that they definitely gave me that oldschool kinda vibe.
Black Kray check out Crack Clouds over Arts Kitchen and Ice Cream and Mac 10s
Black Kray: Weird, but cool. 8.2/10
Why would I care what your rating is though?
IDK. It might give him a couple more people that listen to them.
Because this is a thread that other people see. so it may help them find new artists to listen to
Was about to comment this lol Why do we need validation from this guy?
0/10 for Viper for me.
A$AP Rocky is one of my favorites but Viper has nothing appealing at all imo.
You like what you like tho
Hey 👋🏿
You didn’t actually reply to my post 😂
I think if you like meme rap or just rap with a sense of humor, Viper’s for you. He’s just one of those artists that’s hard to get into. Even then, I don’t really like it when people only see him as a meme who makes low quality music (that’s what his new music is, though). He used to be a promising artist trying to carry on the legacy of DJ Screw. But now he’s just playing into the meme, which I’m not exactly a fan of, but hey, man’s got to eat, so…
Shit I thought I did lol.
Nah but fr, I don’t like that sound and there’s nothing in my body that will allow me to like it. Like much of the trap style rap in today’s hip hop. But I can see how certain type of people would like it. Like I said I don’t hate cloud rap bc A$AP Rocky is one of my go to’s of this generation.
Viper
Honestly, i would only listen to him if i need some soft and slow background music. but hes not that bad. 7/10
What was it about him again? Was he the one releasing a crazy amount of albums a year? Was it every month or week or something?
He invented cloud rap. That’s the trippy sound used by artists like Lil B, Clams Casino, SpaceGhostPurrp, A$AP Rocky, Lil Uzi Vert, and Playboi Carti.
And yeah, he kept releasing the same 10 albums over and over again in 2013-2014 lol
Ah thank you, I knew I knew the name from somewhere, which of his projects would you recommend checking out?
You’ll Cowards Don’t Even Smoke Crack is easy to get into, but I think Ready and Willing is his best. Don’t expect much from him lyrically, he’s basically a whispering thug, but he’s got a sense of humor and is good at writing hooks— and the production still sounds like nothing else out there.
Thanks, I definitely will check them out I developed a soft spot for stuff like that anyways!
Ready and Willing is honestly an all time great album lol. the production is so incredible and nothing else really scratches the same itch. Heartless Hoodlum and Hiram Clarke Hustler are also both really fantastic. also really love “Shatter” off Hustlin’ Thick, but I haven’t listened to the whole album enough to give it a cosign here. same goes for These Rappers Claim They Hard When Them Fags Never Even Seen The Pen, You’ll Cowards Don’t Even Smoke Crack, and They Hate Me Cuz I’m Vaporwave
Wuntayk Timmy
His flow on some of his top songs doesn't really match the beat at some points. But I like the way that he usually doesn't let the beat go on forever in the intro. He is pretty good with his lyrics too. 8/10
He has an unorthodox flow but his wordplay is insane.
I dont think this is on Spotify but its my favorite from him https://youtu.be/99gVW4CazkY
Sh3llz
I love the way that he focuses on his lyrics while also making a pretty good flow. Would recommend to anyone that likes slower more melodic beats with real lyrics. 8.7/10
Tom Gist or Ty Da Dale
Tom Gist: Think of a hybrid of 50 cent/Biggie/Moneybagg yo. Not bad, 9/10
Estee Nack
I have no words. 4/10
Chucky Workclothes
He is trying to sing while rapping, but he is like 8 notes out of tune lol. 3/10
He’s from my city and that’s my Dawg. I’m going to support and what song were you talking about? Because this one goes hard as fuck. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TD7cQ169KSc
i just went to listen to some of the songs that don't have any features and the main one that I saw was Took My Time. But thats cool that hes from your city.
Black Milk or Sean Price. Whoever has less listens.
Black Milk: Has a flow like Kendrick Lamar, but great lyrics. Not really as underground as I would have thought, but he is probably the best one yet. 9.9/10
[removed]
Orion: i cant really explain him, but i would give him a 8/10. Give him a listen to really understand him.
ILLFIGHTYOU
For a meme rapper, he is really good. He really sounds like a Denzel Curry type dude. I feel like everyone could like him. 9.4/10
It's actually a group of 3 rappers. Not sure what meme rap is. These dudes have been putting in work in the underground for a decade.
Well whatever they are doing, its working. Btw meme rap is pretty much what Ugly God was doing in the early stages of his career.
Right on. Glad you like them.
Does Blu & Exile count?
Seven Savage
