  • PHI Starting Pitcher #45
Wheeler took a no-hitter into the eighth inning, but Korey Lee singled off the right-hander to break up the no-no. It goes without saying that it was another strong outing for the 33-year-old, and it also goes without saying that the White Sox are a lineup that starting hurlers are going to feast on with regularity. Wheeler is simply one of the best starters in baseball, and his stuff plus command are going to dominate anemic offenses like this much more often than not. He’ll take a 2.30 ERA into his next start, which is scheduled for Thursday against the Reds.
  • NYM Catcher #4
The Mets are hopeful that the hard-hitting 22-year-old backstop will be able to return before the 2024 season is through. Teammate Starling Marte told reporters that players were told that Alvarez would be sidelined for six-to-eight weeks. Either way, it’s a brutal blow for the Mets and for fantasy managers who will be without one of the top offensive catchers in the game for the better part of two months at a minimum. For now, expect Omar Narvaez and Tomas Nido to share the load behind the plate — but don’t be surprised if the Mets explore outside alternatives as well.
  • NYY Left Fielder #22
Soto was responsible for New York’s lone extra-base hit of the contest and accounted for half of their hit total as Rays starter Zach Eflin and a quartet of relievers combined on a 10-inning, four-hit shutout. The 25-year-old generational superstar is off to a blistering-hot start in his Yankees debut, batting .354 (28-for-79) with 13 runs scored, five homers, 20 RBI and one steal through 21 contests.
  • TB Starting Pitcher #24
Eflin and opposing starter Nestor Cortes matched zeroes into the late innings of Saturday’s rare pitcher’s duel at Yankee Stadium with neither side breaking through until extra innings. The 30-year-old righty induced 12 whiffs and finished with a near-elite 36 percent CWS, needing just 78 pitches (49 strikes) to complete six shutout frames. He’ll bring an impressive 3.68 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 26/2 K/BB ratio across 29 1/3 innings (five starts) into an extremely favorable road tilt on Friday against the White Sox.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #65
Cortes and opposing starter Zach Eflin locked horns in a throwback pitcher’s duel during Saturday’s afternoon matinee at Yankee Stadium, trading zeroes into the late innings of this one. The 29-year-old southpaw was simply magnificent, generating 17 swinging strikes, and finishing with a 30 percent CSW, needing just 102 pitches (69 strikes) to navigate seven nearly-flawless frames. He’ll bring a solid 3.41 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 28/5 K/BB ratio across 29 innings (five starts) into a tasty home matchup on Thursday against the Athletics.
  • NYM Catcher #4
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters Alvarez is still undergoing additional testing to determine the severity of the injury. However, it’s pretty much a best-case scenario outcome for the Mets, and fantasy managers, for the moment as Alvarez has yet to be diagnosed with a fracture, or a torn ligament, which would result in a much lengthier absence. There should be some clarity on his potential return timeline at some point in the next few days. The 22-year-old backstop suffered the injury when he stumbled rounding first base during Friday’s series opener against the Dodgers. At this point, it doesn’t sound like he’ll wind up missing more than a couple weeks.
  • BOS Third Baseman #11
Devers remains out of the lineup for the third consecutive contest due to a bone bruise in his left knee. The Red Sox are understandably exercising some extreme caution with their 27-year-old franchise cornerstone and it’s unclear if he’ll be ready to return for Sunday’s series finale. He’s played in just three of Boston’s last 10 games since April 11 due to injury. It’ll be Bobby Dalbec once again at the hot corner on Saturday in his absence.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #35
The move doesn’t come as a total surprise after Puk was obliterated for seven runs over three innings during Friday’s series opener against the Cubs. The 28-year-old southpaw’s dazzling spring training performance simply didn’t carry over to the regular season as he’ll get some time off the regroup after compiling a calamitous 9.22 ERA, 2.63 WHIP and 12/17 K/BB ratio across 13 2/3 innings (four starts). He can be safely dropped in all fantasy formats, if he wasn’t already.
  • BAL Left Fielder #13
This is getting ridiculous. Kjerstad connected for a pair of homers to notch his third multi-homer performance through 19 contests for Triple-A Norfolk. The 25-year-old slugger is batting a surreal .359 (28-for-78) with 10 home runs, 30 RBI and one stolen base so far. It’s unclear what else he has to prove in the upper minors and should get an extended opportunity with Baltimore in short order. He’s a worthwhile stash in all fantasy formats as a potential four-category contributor, if everything breaks right.
  • NYM Catcher #4
“I’m pretty concerned,” Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters following Alvarez’s departure from Friday’s showdown in Los Angeles. The 22-year-old emerging franchise cornerstone, who has been playing through a ton of minor physical issues already this season, suffered the apparent left thumb injury during the second inning of Friday’s contest when he stumbled while rounding first base. There should be an update on his status at some point this weekend.
