The death of George P. Schultz on Saturday leaves twelve living former cabinet secretaries who are over the age of 90– three of them from New Jersey.

Former Attorney General Ramsey Clark, 93, is the last living member of President Lyndon Johnson’s cabinet.

Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, 97, is the only living member of President Richard Nixon’s cabinet.  Schultz led the State Department under President Ronald Reagan but served as Secretary of the Treasury while Kissinger was at state.

Three other nonagenarian New Jerseyans who served in the president’s cabinet are still alive:  Michael Blumenthal, the Secretary of the Treasury under Jimmy Carter, who is 95 and lives in Princeton;  Raymond Donovan, 90, a New Jersey construction company executive who was Reagan’s Secretary of Labor; and 90-year-old Nicholas Brady, who was Treasury Secretary under Reagan and George H.W. Bush, and briefly in 1982, a United States Senator from New Jersey.

Other living cabinet secretaries over age 90: Charles Duncan (Energy/Carter), 94; Lauro Cavazos (Education/Reagan & Bush), 94; William Perry (Defense/Bill Clinton), 93; Ray Marshall (Labor/Carter), 92: James Baker (Treasury/Reagan; State/Bush); Moon Landrieu (Housing and Urban Development/Carter), 90; and Bill Brock (Labor/Reagan), 90.
