Can anyone explain when I should expect BAH payments from my post 9/11 GI bill? I started class August 15th. Everything is certified and reflected on VA.gov. I didn’t get anything today
Post 9/11 GI bill BAH
Did you certify your attendance. You are required to do so. That could be why.
How do I do that?
You should be getting an email or text from the va to verify your attendance. It’s a new rule that came out recently, you have to verify attendance every month. They started this because too many people were on the hookup program of dropping out of school and continuing to receive BAH
Okay, I’ll be on the lookout! Thanks
I literally got the text two days ago!!!! And I’m still yet to get my payment! Wtff is going on
Have you checked payments in va.gov? It will show without a date if it’s pending.
I got that text a few days ago, replied right away. No payment still
My vet tec payment is late as well.
It could be that your school certified you late. If they do so less then 2-3 weeks before your classes start your BAH can be delayed. You could also try calling the gi bill hotline and speaking directly with a rep and they will be able to tell you exactly when your BAH was sent out.
If you started class 2 weeks ago, then it could take up to 1 month, especially since you started class in the middle of the month. So expect for your BAH to hit no sooner than September 15.
One way to confirm that funds are on the way, are to check with the folks who handle tuition and see if you’re in good standing. If the VA paid your tuition, your BAH will come.
Okay, thank you! :)
That's not true, VA isn't going to wait until 9/15 to pay you - the VA doesn't do midmonth payments. VA sends an authorization to Treasury - Treasury is authorized to use a 10 business day window in which to pay out education benefits. some students were paid today, others a few days ago while others won't get paid until next week (after labor day).
This is from the VA website: For Post 9/11 GI Bill only, If you signed up for direct deposit when you applied for education benefits, we’ll deposit your payment into your bank account 7 to 10 business days after you verify your school enrollment. This is the fastest way to receive your payment.
This is the information on text verification: https://benefits.va.gov/gibill/isaksonroe/verification_of_enrollment.asp
Another factor that affects your payment is when did your school certify your enrollment to VA. VA is averaging 12 business day processing - if this is your initial semester, VA has to finish setting up your VA education file, so your certification is worked manually - adds a few days to the process. You should have received an email from VA Once informing you that your school certified your enrollment.
i didn’t get anything today either. and my stuff had been processed earlier august.
Well I did everything through the VA in June/July but my classes started august
Same here, no housing payment yet for September (for august's classes)
