Lance Bass has taken down a TikTok clip in which he reenacted Amber Heard's testimony in her trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp.

The *NSYNC performer, 43, in the clip, physically acted out in correspondence to Heard's testimony as she described an incident in which she claimed Depp had been physically abusive to her.

Heard testified: 'At this point, we're sitting next to each other on the edge of the couch. I was just sitting there on this carpet, looking at the dirty carpet, wondering how I wound up on this carpet and why I never noticed that the carpet was so filthy before.'

The Laurel, Mississippi native referred to his group's 2001 hit Pop in the caption of his post, writing, 'I've heard of dirty pop, but dirty carpet… that's a new one.'

Bass added of his bit: 'In honor of the trial starting back up … Had to do it!'

A number of social media users criticized Bass for his performance in the clip, insinuating that he was making light of the serious topics examined in the trial.

'This trial is about domestic violence, emotional abuse, and sexual assault,' one user wrote. 'And this is what Lance Bass is choosing to do. These folks really are determined to dissuade victims from ever coming forward again.'

Another user said that Bass's theatrics over the serious topic matter played into Depp's decision to sue Heard.

'This is disgusting and disturbing -- and of course, it's exactly why Johnny Depp filed his defamation lawsuit in Virginia in the first place, for the live broadcast, so stans and bots could engage in this emotional terrorism campaign and edit footage to manipulate public opinion,' the user said.

The Representation Project, an organization aimed at combatting harmful gender norms and stereotypes, said that Bass's behavior was an example of a problematic pattern online.

'Mocking or making light of domestic abuse and sexual assault is never okay - and it's not just Lance Bass, but a troubling trend taking over social media,' the organization said.

Depp, 58, is suing Heard, 36, over defamation claims linked to a 2018 article she penned for the The Washington Post in which the Aquaman actress called herself a 'public figure representing domestic abuse.'

Attorneys for the actress had sought to have the trial relocated to California, where both Depp and Heard live, but a judge ruled that the case was properly located in Virginia, where the newspaper's online servers are based out of.

Depp in 2020 lost a libel case against the outlet The Sun over their reporting of the split, labeling him a 'wife-beater;' his efforts last year to overturn the decision were overruled.

Depp and Heard initially met filming the 2011 movie The Rum Diary and exchanged vows in 2015. They parted ways in May of 2016, at which time Heard looked to obtain a restraining order against the actor amid claims of domestic violence, which Depp denied. The former pair reached an out-of-court divorce settlement in August of 2016.
