What Lantern Corps would One Piece characters be in?

Oh hi, been a while hasn't it?, well now I'm back and today I have a blog topic that has been on my mind for a bit and that is what Lantern corps certain One Piece characters would be in?.

Now as an explanation for those who don't know. The Lantern Corps are societies of beings across the DC universe who wear a superpowered ring that exists on the emotional spectrum and are powered by a certain emotion, the bearer of the ring must have a strong tie to the said emotion. These rings gives the wearer the power to make constructs, flight, and being able to breathe in space. In the DC comics, the rings are some of the most powerful weapons a person could hope to get and in this blog, I will be discussing which character most qualifies for a certain ring, without further ado let's begin with.....

Will.

Of course, we start off with what is the most recognizable of the lantern corps, the Green Lanterns of Will. To qualify for this ring one needs to have tremendous willpower. As you maybe guessed the Will Lantern Corps is predominantly made up of Heroes as pretty much every Hero ever could qualify for Will as the stuff they do and the villains they face down requires great Will power and I believe this selection is all but too easy, It's Luffy.

I don't think I need to go too deep into this but Luffy down to his powers is the type of guy to always bounce back from any and every situation. he gets stabbed by Crocodile? fought him again...and then again. Got separated from his crew, saw his brother die before his eyes? well he managed to bounce back from that to and come back stronger than ever. Get smacked out of the sky by Kaido and put in Prison? well, you should see the pattern by now. Luffy's Willpower might just be the greatest in the One Piece series and that is why he is Will.

Fear.

Next up is the second most recognizable Lantern Corp as its leader, Sinestro is the arch-nemesis of the green lantern member we all know and love, Hal Jordan. Now to qualify for the Yellow Lantern Corp of Fear one needs to be able to instill fear in almost any person they meet and this Lantern Corps is often occupied by numerous villains for obvious reasons and the best pick for fear in my eyes is Akainu.

Akainu is the current fleet admiral of the Marines and rules over them with a cold heart and an iron fist, this combined with his lack of morals, absolute justice ideas and Devil Fruit makes Akainu the most terrifying person in the Marine ranks and one of the most terrifying people in the One Piece world, he would not hesitate to kill numerous innocents if it meant fulfilling his duty (which he has done), I can also think back to Marineford where we see a scene of a marine soldier fleeing the battle and unfortunately he runs into Akainu and he kills him, nearby Koby and Helmeppo witness Akainu commit the act and are horrified. Akainu's subordinates follow him purely out of fear because they know there's nothing to stop him from just killing them on the spot if they stepped out of line. If this doesn't qualify the man for a Fear Lantern ring then what does?

Rage.

Let's continue with the Red Lanterns of Rage. To qualify for a Red lantern ring one needs to feel extreme anger, hate, and vengeance and letting those emotions control you. Now, this was a tricky selection because I cannot think of a lot of people in One Piece who are always feeling extreme anger and/or having a strong desire for revenge against someone. after thinking and thinking and even discussing with others I have come to pick Kaido,

now This could be better I admit but I really cannot think of anyone else who could be a red lantern quite like Kaido. being angry is one of his core traits as a character, his prime motivator is to get a big war going, one that was even bigger than Marineford and he lashes out with all his power against those who dare oppose him.

Hope

Moving on let us discuss the Blue Lanterns of hope, to qualify for this group you must be able to be a symbol of hope for others around you and have unwavering faith in yourself and your abilities, when It comes to Hope the One Piece character who fits most is Monkey D. Dragon, father to Luffy and leader of the revolutionaries,

the ladder is why I put him here. Everywhere the revolutionaries go they inspire hope and change in people and I don't think anyone could be at the helm of a massive organization that has the end-goal of tearing down the current world order then build a new one if you didn't have unwavering and undying faith and hope in your abilities and your allies abilities. So not only does Dragon and his revolutionaries inspire hope, Dragon has a large amount of his own Hope.

Avarice/Greed

Now to tackle my favorite of the Lantern Corps, the Orange Lanterns of Avarice, to qualify for this corp one needs to have a lust for something, Money, Power, you name it. This Corp is a bit different from the others as there is only one Member, Larfleeze.

He killed any and all who joined the Orange Lanterns because his greed for the Rings power drove him to make sure he was the only one so he could have the power for himself, this execution of the orange corps is why I love it. But back on track, who qualifies for the Orange Ring of Greed, Well none other than Wapol.

Ex-King of Drum Island. Wapol down to his Devil Fruit ability is greed. He believes himself entitled to anything and everything and takes as he pleases. His powers reflect this as it turns him into an omnivore who can consume anything and turn himself into that thing. And after he exited the story as a villain Wapol started a successful toy business and came into his own as the greedy business owner archetype.

Compassion

Now the indigo lanterns of compassion much like the Orange are a different beast because in addition to getting a sick ring the members get a staff that have the same powers, redundant but cool. but there's a much bigger reason the Indigo lanterns work differently, the Rings are actually somewhat parasitic and instead of being drawn to people who feel great compassion they seek out those who feel no compassion, latch themselves onto the person, and make them feel compassion and regret for their past actions, this leads them down the path of good. Ironic isn't it?. Now the best option for the Compassion Lantern corp is my favorite villain, the man himself, Blackbeard.

Blackbeard is one of the major antagonists in One Piece and he is a truly evil man, he only cares for his agenda and goals and does not matter how he gets there and who he has to step over to reach it. He has no compassion for others in his heart and for this, he qualifies to be in the Indigo Lanterns of Compassion.

Love

We're coming down the homestretch, the Last one. The Star Sapphire corps are love and to qualify one must feel a tremendous amount of love for someone or a lot of people and it does not have to be romantic love. This one was also pretty easy to pin down, My selection is Boa Hancock.

Boa is (was) one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea and Captain of the Kuja Pirates. My reason for putting her here is because of her Love for Monkey D. Luffy. She fell head over heels for the guy and the love is purely based on fantasy and it's to the point it's more of an obsession with Luffy. She is driven by her Love for Luffy to make an exception to her "All men are sin" ideals just for him and She was willing to defy even the World Government if it meant protecting and/or helping Luffy. and Thus I do not see a more perfect fit.

Now, now I'm sure DC fans are preparing their pitchforks asking for the 3 Special Lantern Corps as I'll call them. The 3 Special Lantern Corps are the White Lanterns of Life,

The Black Lanterns of Death

and the Ultraviolet Lanterns of an unknown emotion as far as I know.

Now I will not be including these 3 special corps because technically the lanterns of life and death are not on the emotional spectrum and what I could not consider to be Lantern Corps in the same way as the other 7 even if they're treated as such. and as for the UV Lantern Corps, I would have included them if not for the mystery surrounding what emotion they are tied to, without a concrete idea on what qualifies someone to be a UV Lantern I couldn't pick some who I feel is appropriate.
