Don’t miss it!

My friends and I had a wonderful and memorable meal at Bia. They accommodated us late and we’re friendly and warm. The setting was lovely and the food was truly wonderful. We had many dinners in Ireland but this was our favourite. Portions are generous. The mussels and fish were amazing. Don’t miss it!

Great little find

Had a really delicious meal in Bia. Modern Irish food, well presented. Fresh fish and seafood particularly good. Small menu which is always a very good sign and really the reason we went in despite not having read a review or booked in advance. Friendly helpful staff, comfortable surroundings. A great start to our weekend in Bantry.

Worst meal I’ve ever had

I and 2 others had the misfortune to order paella at Bia. I can without any exaggeration say it was the worst meal I have ever had. Tasteless, colourless and the worst presentation I’ve ever seen. Just so you appreciate my sentiment, I have never provided a review before. But in this case I feel I need to warn others off this restaurant.

Food was delicious and the waitress was lovely! Amazing authentic seafood and really great desserts. Recommend the fish paella and the crème brûlée

Great place to eat and relax.

Great service, great food. All the staff were excellent and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Lovely warm stove in the dining area as well. We had a selection of food: burgers, hake and fish&chips. All delicious, particularly the vegetables accompanying the hake. Well worth visiting.

Had dinner here during a recent visit to Bantry. Enjoyed every bit of it. Crab toes and Calamari starter was delicious and plentiful. Had Scallops and Black Pudding for main course equally as delicious. Good wine to wash it all down!

Much more than a sneeze....

There are some great restaurants in Bantry, most providing varying levels of bar food, which we have enjoyed, but comparing the immediate hunger abolishing usefulness of bar food to the fair at bia is like comparing the wonderful release of a sneeze to an orgasm, there’s just much more going on. The staff are welcoming, the restaurant pretty and the food is full of flavour a cut above the rest around it. Highly recommended.

Great seafood and welcoming staff

We had delicious mussels and seafood piela from the specials menu. Both were very high quality. Plenty of food and very tasty. Was a quiet evening and the waiting staff were friendly and helpful. There was a nice warm atmosphere and other diners were in high spirits. Would definately recommend to others visiting bantry looking for seafood and a nice dining experience.

Ok I’m a bit of an old hat at reviewing restaurants and I know what I like and I also know what I don’t like when I walk into an establishment. But let me say this restaurant is unreal!! I have eaten here on 3 occasions and I must say each time it’s got better. The first meal I had there was with my mother. Our mains were the Paella (best I’ve ever had) and I’ve eaten paella in well recommended restaurants in Spain! The second night was with my daughter and we had the chicken with cashew nut sauce once again impeccable. Then tonight with friends I had the prawn and lobster linguine which was such a generous portion, I was sceptical as to how much seafood would be in it. I had no reason to be sceptical as I couldn’t finish the prawns or lobster. The expression 3rd time lucky really does hit a note. I won’t bore you any more but is it worth a try?? A big YES 100% do and Conor the head waiter is so efficient and friendly it’s an experience worth having. The one flaw I see is it’s not advertised enough plus visually you will walk past this hidden gem and not even realise you have passed it and what a shame to pass this by!

Service better than the food

The soup special and paella main were very good, but the chicken starter was bad, reminding me of chicken liver. Stay away from it. Portion sizes were large. Service was excellent, attentive throughout, and then one of the servers gave us a break on the bill (considering our meal an early bird special when not everything we ordered qualified), and then both found the location of, and accompanied us to, a room in the back of the hotel with a special session we wanted to attend.

Had an amazing dinner here on Sept 14th. Great presentation and fantastic flavours. You can tell that the seafood is very fresh and everything made in house. Conor and Nessa provided awesome service. Thank you for an amazing night. Compliments to the Chef.

Intimate and elegant

Four of us ate at Bia last night. It was our second time in two weeks, so that tells you how much we liked it. Our server, Padreg, and our previous server, Connor, made the meal even more enjoyable. The food was beautifully presented and the menu featured items prepared in ways we had never experienced. The calamari rings were as large as onion rings yet were tender, not chewy. The oysters from Bantry Bay were enormous, briny, and delicious. We highly recommend Bia if you are in Bantry on your travels. The space is very small and they ate only open Friday through Monday, so make reservations.

Divine food and superb service (I completely agree with this title)

Bia restaurant was a complete surprise! It's delicious! A new gem! Their menu is original, different from the classic fish and chips, grilled salmon and stake. The presentation of the dishes is elegant and delicate. We had the mussels with smoked paprika and coconut milk (sounds weird but they're probably one of the best mussels I've ever had, the combination is amazing! We also had the duck confit, mmmm!! The vegetarian dish was also magnific! And for dessert, the mix berry cheescake spectacular, so tasty!! If we go back to Bantry, that will be our choice of restaurant! A part from the amazing food, the ambiance and staff are excellent too!
