Alder Hills Golf Course
Alder Hills was designed and constructed in 2003. Today it has grown into one of the most naturally beautiful par three courses in northern BC. During your golf round you are likely to encounter wildlife, such as rabbits, foxes, and deer that inhabit the course. Featuring an exclusive hitting pad to hit balls onto the driving range using the latest digital Toptracer technology.
Outdoor Ice Oval
Spend a day at the Outdoor Ice Oval and take in the best parts of winter. Skate the expansive outdoor rink with your family and friends under the stars or in the bright blue winter skies. Check weather conditions before venturing down, as the rink is dependent on the cold temperatures to stay open.
Pidherny Recreation Site
The Pidherny Recreation Site is an official recreation site for all non-motorized users (mountain biking, hiking, walking, skiing, snowshoeing, etc.). The trail network offers riders a wide variety of beginner to advanced trails featuring both natural and man-made technical features. Accessed from Foothills Blvd and Pidherny Road, riders can choose to do shuttle laps.
Cottonwood Island Nature Park
A local favourite, visitors will enjoy the many winding trails along the river and close-up views of the historical CN Rail Bridge that was built in 1914, Keep your eyes peeled for the many unique carvings that are scattered across the cottonwood trees throughout the park.
Aberdeen Glen Golf Course
Aberdeen Glen has been nominated twice as the BCPGA facilty of the year. The course boasts a challenging 7114 yards from the back tees and a laid-back 5512 yards from the front markers. The scenic beauty and dramatic elevation changes, seen most prominently at hole #18 is breathtaking.
David Douglas Botanical Gardens
This garden is one of the most northern botanical gardens in BC. Maintained by a local society, the garden is an aesthetically pleasing assortment of native plants and flowers found across all northern BC.
Prince George Golf & Curling Club
Located in a park-like setting right in the centre of town, the Prince George Golf and Curling Club offers an enjoyable test of golf for the low handicapper as well as the weekend golfer. In addition to a championship golf course the club also has curling ice, a driving range and complete lounge facilities.
Aspen Grove Golf Course
Aspen originally started as 9 holes in 1971, and expanded to an 18 hole course in 1986, The course is carved out of natural forest, and features several ponds and a creek (aptly named Provy Creek).
Connaught Hill
Open from April to October, this beautifully landscaped park provides 360 degree views of the community and of the Fraser River. For many people the park is a great place to visit to relax, read, picnic and to enjoy views of the city. It was once home to a wooden ski jump in 1930.
Cranbrook Hill Greenway
Cranbrook Hill Greenway has over 25 km of multi-use trails that are open year round for activities such as biking, hiking and skiing.
Forest for the World
Forests for the World is a 106 hectare demonstration forest. The main trail to Shane lake is well maintained, and offers amenities such as picnic tables, shelter, BBQ pit, fire pits and viewing platform over the stocked lake.
Great West Life (GWL) Mobility Nature Trail
The Great West Life Mobility Trail is a 450-metre-plus ramp and platform trail suitable for travel by persons with mobility challenges and/or mobility aids. The trail includes two bridges, two culverts, two kiosk signs, six interpretive sign posts, and plenty of trees and natural surroundings. This new trail also has accessible parking next to the trail head and an accessible outhouse.
Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park
This is Prince George's signature park. Picnic sites, water park, playground, floral gardens, tennis courts, ball diamonds, a band shell, mini train, the Exploration Place museum, and the newly built pavilion can all be found here. This park was formerly known as Fort George Park, but was renamed in 2015 to recognize the traditional home of the Lheidli T'enneh Nation.
LC Gunn Park
LC Gunn Park is an easy grade walkway exploring the bluffs above the Fraser River and overlooks the city of Prince George. The forested 3.5 kilometre trail follows the same route traveled by the early surveyors when planning out the railway line.
Moore's Meadow Park
This 60-hectare nature park is situated within a glacial kettle - a unique geological feature formed after the ice age. The park boasts a forested hillside and open meadow with an abundance of biodiversity and wildlife. Explore the park by foot, bike, snowshoe and cross country skies throughout all the seasons. Dog friendly.
Rainbow Park
Rainbow Park showcases many of the city's popular floral displays. The perfect place to enjoy a quiet picnic or photo opportunities for weddings and other special occasions. Rainbow Park is also home to one of two Prince George disc golf courses.
McMillan Creek Regional Park
McMillan Creek Park is a network of three short trails leading to a grassy knoll lookout over looking Prince George and the mighty Nechako River. The earthy trail is an easy grade route, but be prepared to experience some elevation gain while meandering through a forest of Douglas Fir to the lookout on the north side of the Nechako River.
Wilkins Regional Park
Located west of Prince George via Otway Road, this 57 ha park is located on the Nechako River. Trails through the park are well-suited for walking, hiking, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. After your excursion you can warm up in the picnic shelter beside the wood stove or cook over the fire pits. During the end of summer, you may be able to see salmon swimming.
Pine Valley Golf Course
An urban golf course located near Costco, Pine Valley is a full 18 Par 3 course centrally located.
Ginter's Meadow
Ginter's Meadow is an off-leash area just off Ospika Boulevard. If the off-leash area isn't enough for your four-legged friend, you can access the UNBC Connector Trail System from Ginter's.
Ferguson Lake Nature Reserve
Ferguson Lake is a unique trail system featuring a public fishing dock, historic homesteader cabins and a biodiverse landscape of plants and wildlife. Visitors will enjoy the boardwalk suspended across the water, providing beautiful views of the entire lake. This is a family-friendly fishing lake, regularly stocked with rainbow trout.
Purden Ski Hill
For more than 40 years, Purden has been supplying an exciting and robust ski adventure. With over 25 named runs, the longest being Lakeview which offers over two miles of terrain with views of Purden Lake! With over 1,100 vertical feet of skiing on dry powder snow, treed runs and uncrowded slopes, Purden Ski Village is a skier's paradise.
Hart Ski Hill
Providing winter fun for over 50 years, the Hart Ski Hill is an urban ski and snowboard hill within city limits and a short drive from downtown. With 22 acres of trails, a terrain park and lit-up runs, this is a perfect hill for an evening run, or family day.
Prince George to Wells ATV & Snowmobile Trail
The 154-kilometer trail from Wells to Prince George provides great opportunity for riders to view vast areas of remote wilderness and wildlife along the way. It is important to note that there are no services of any kind along the trail, therefore, riders must be prepared for a trip in the backcountry. The route runs from Wells over to and across Big Valley up the eastern shoreline of Stoney Lake, along the Willow Forest Service Road to Opatcho Lake where it turns left onto the Tabor Mountain Trail System ending at the Prince George Snowmobile Club.
Powder King Resort
Known as "The Whisper of the North", Powder King is nestled in the pristine wilderness of the Canadian Rockies north of Prince George. This resort offers the best of the great outdoors, with an amazing annual snowfall of 41 feet, and terrain ranging from breathtaking drops for the adventurous skier, to the gentle groomed slopes of beginner runs.
Caledonia Nordic Ski Centre
At Otway, experience cross-country skiing on 55km of groomed trails, with night skiing, dog trails, a concession, ski school, and rentals as options. The trails remain open for use during the summer for hikers and mountain bikers.
Ancient Forest/Chun T'oh Whudujut Provincial Park
A one-of-a-kind inland wet-temperate rainforest; a forest ecosystem that combines attributes of both the coastal wet-temperate rainforests of British Columbia and adjacent boreal forests of Alberta and the far north.The Ancient Forest Trail provides an opportunity to view enormous ancient cedar trees within BC's inland rainforest. The trail is an easy-moderate hike marked with interpretative signage, and is home to a beautiful waterfall. A 400m portion of the trail is a universal access boardwalk. In 2016, the Ancient Forest was designated as a Class A Provincial Park and given an additional name Chun T’oh Whudujut.
Hudson's Bay Wetland
Offering a chance to spot local wildlife, Hudson's Bay Wetland is a popular nature trail to see beavers, fish and birds within the centre of the city. The trail offers a variety of lookout points and is an easy 2km path.
Goodsir Nature Park
With over 300 species of trees, plants and wildflowers, this 160 acre nature park features 3km of walking trails, an indoor plant museum and botanical gardens. The park was built over a lifetime by one person, Jim Good, who traveled throughout Canada finding, recording, pressing and photographing thousands of plant species.
Tabor Mountain Recreation Site
Within Tabor Mountain Rec Site there is over 400km of multi use trails (cross country skiing, horseback riding, mountain biking, snowmobiling, ATVing and hiking), rustic cabins, shelters, viewpoints and fishing opportunities.
Teapot Mountain
One of the most popular day hikes in Prince George, Teapot Mountain will reward hikers with 360 degree views of the surrounding lakes, rivers, forests and wetlands.
Wood Innovation Square
The newest downtown park in Prince George, the Wood Innovation Square adds a quiet retreat from the bustling George Street and is nestled beside the architecturally stunning Wood Innovation and Design Centre.
Berman Lake Regional Park
The 38 ha park has 3 km of trails. Many of the trails follow the shoreline and naturally formed eskers, which enable access to view a variety of wildlife and the habitat in which they live.
