Funky great little theater

This theater usually show speciality films that are independent or good films that didn't do well in regular theaters. Some might call it an Art Theater but it is more that than. You will join anywhere from 15 to maybe 30 people in one of the two small theaters. It can seem like a step or two up from a home size theater. The snack bar is small but you get a good bowl, yep bowl, of popcorn for a very reasonable price along with your drinks. We enjoy watching movies there for several reasons.

Great theater

This is a small intimate theatre. No big crowds to fight. It is family owned and easy to have a pleasant experience.
I often meet my friends there for an afternoon matine. I highly recommend it.

Great Community Film Venue

Love the small theatre feel in great location downtown. Magic Lantern brings interesting films and film genres to our community. Great food nearby. Intimate seating. Friendly and helpful staff. Buy tickets, grab a bite to eat and return for interesting and off-the-beaten-track (as well as award winning) films.

Bottomless popcorn that doesn't empty our bank account

We stopped in to see Brooklyn. Great move. We watch 3 or 4 movies a month here, always a great experience and get to see lots of Indie type movies that we would have never heard off. They do a great job of keeping us entertained.

Cute and cosy

It feels like your playing hooky whiling away your afternoon in this intimate little theater. The staff are friendly but not overly so. This definitely a little hidden gem in Spokane.

Sweet Little Independent Theater Surrounded by Yummy Chic Restaurants

The Magic Lantern is a wonderful little theater--small, independent, mostly plays lesser known films, foreign films or independent films. Also hosts film festivals. There is a cute little snack and beverage bar inside the theater, but there are also several great cafes and restaurants on the surrounding lots. I highly recommend for a unique and fun night out.

In Google, type "art cinema Spokane" and, other than the ads, the first listed entry to appear is the Magic Lantern. And, Google got it right, because the Magic Lantern is Spokane's Art Cinema Theater. Cozy and comfortable, you will love your experience at the Magic Lantern, with outstanding films and wonderful, bottomless popcorn served sustainbly, in real bowls. Purchasing a gift card for someone to the Magic Lantern is a real gift worth giving!

Great little theater

I enjoy going to The Magic Lantern to see great films.
This is a cozy place devoid of the Uber spending experience of a mega movie chain.
The popcorn is fresh, the movies vary from arthouse to artistic to Sicario. Great date movie theater! I am so happy Spokane has a place to go see good movies! There is none of the Hollywood schlock here.
