Jessica Chastain expressed her annoyance that Johnny Depp, whom she's never worked with, employs a full-time sound engineer to feed him his lines on set through an earpiece.

The revelation came Monday after the 53-year-old movie star's former management company, TMG, filed a counter lawsuit detailing the hundreds of thousands of dollars he spends on a sound man - according to Page Six.

Upon hearing this, the 40-year-old Golden Globe winner rolled her eyes, shook her head, and smiled before explaining precisely how she memorizes dialogue.

'I guess my technique is working hard,' the Juilliard grad told BBC News on Thursday.

'So on the weekends before I would go into my work week, I memorize. I will spend my entire day working on the script and the scenes that I have coming ahead.'

Jessica was in London promoting her role as the titular, ambitious lobbyist Elizabeth Sloane in the political thriller Miss Sloane, which finally hits UK theaters on Friday.

'[Memorizing the script] was so important playing this character because she's the smartest person in the room,' Chastain said.

'She knows more about it than anyone else so I had to say it in a way that, umm, I couldn't search for my lines like I just did. She doesn't talk like that. It had to be cold. It had to be so second nature to me, and the only way to do it is to spend the hours doing it.'
