Michigan Department of Corrections Inmate Search

Step 1: Visit the Michigan offender tracking information system (OTIS) page and accept the terms and conditions. After that, you will be taken to a page with the search that appears below:

Step 2: If known, enter the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) number to be taken directly to that inmate’s results. Otherwise, enter as much information as you know about the inmate for more filtered results, and click the ‘Search’ button.

Step 3: On the next page, you will see list of all inmates matching the information you entered. Results include a date of birth, facility location (with a link to an address and basic prison profile) or supervising agency, inmate supervision status and key dates (including parole and maximum sentence dates). You will also be given an offender (MDOC) number for future reference and will see a Michigan Compiled Law (MCL) number associated with the crime associated with the inmate and a link to the description of the charge.

Step 4: Clicking on an offender number will take you to additional information about the inmate, including a photo/mugshot (if available), basic physical description, and specifics about the crime(s) committed.

Michigan Sex Offender Search

The Michigan State Police provide a searchable sex offender registry for persons associated with the state of Michigan.  Searches may be made by geographical area or by name.

After placing a search, you will receive a list of all matching registered sex offenders (including those with aliases matching your information if a name search is used).  Details include a small photo, primary residential address, and any associated alerts (i.e. for non-compliant offenders).

Clicking on a name or photo will take you to a profile page, which includes a larger photo, all used aliases, a physical description, and information about the sex crime(s) committed.

The Michigan DOC provides a list of their most wanted fugitives. The list is sorted alphabetically and separated between escapees and absconders. The list includes a small photo (where available), information about the offense committed, and details about the escape.

Clicking on a photo or offender number will take you to a larger photo, physical description, and additional information about the crime for which the escapee is fleeing justice.
