There is certainly no doubt The Sims 4 is an incredibly entertaining game on its own. However, in order for it to reach its peak potential, it is essential for players to install a few choice high quality mods into their games.
But with The Sims 4 game being five years old already, there's tons of custom content out there to choose from. So which ones are worth downloading? Which ones are trash? Here are 10 fantastic fan-made custom content mod pack and stuff packs to help players get the absolutely maxim amount of enjoyment from their Sims 4 games.
Updated on July 4th, 2020 by Anastasia Maillot: Fans were given a pretty unique and rare treat with Eco Lifestyle, a pack that hasn't existed in The Sims franchise before. Although the idea was a breath of fresh air, even if some of the expansion has been a bit lackluster gameplay-wise, fundamental issues still continue to plague The Sims 4.
There seems to be a general lack of content and activities that would make the everyday life of Sims truly compelling to play for hours on end. Thankfully, where there's a demand there's also a supply. We've added some additional mods and stuff packs guaranteed to make the game ten times less stale.
15 Explore Mod
Although EA has been pretty good at adding new community lots for Sims to visit, there's still a glaring lack of activities available in the game. It would be nice to send a Sim off to a concert, to a fashion show, or just about any other cool event or activity that fits their character story.
Well, it's possible now, with this mod by Kawaiistacie. Sure, it's all rabbit holes, but it brings some much-needed variety into the game. This mod comes with a bunch of different things Sims can do, such as getting their nails done and actually returning with a brand new polish.
14 Cottage Garden Stuff
Now that Eco Lifestyle is out, fans are guaranteed to get crazy with all the environmentally friendly stuff that was already introduced in Tiny Living as well. If living in nature sounds like a wonderful plan, Seasons is also a great addition to really bring in all the seasonal changes.
However, if getting all these packs is not possible, this Cottage Garden Stuff Pack by The Plumbob Tea Society is just what's needed. It has a ton of new objects for that perfect cottage core build. It's a huge pack that a bunch of different creators worked on, and the quality is pure perfection.
13 Grade School From Home
The Sims has always been about telling cool stories, and not being able to tell them accurately can be super frustrating. Narratives related to children and families, in particular, are hard to pull off due to children having to always go to school and do the same things every single day.
NoelleBellefleur has made it possible to have children homeschooled with this mod. Every day, the child will basically get a few tasks that they need to complete towards their homeschooling goals, including interacting with other Sims or using skill objects.
12 Food Delivery Service
In these modern times, it's pretty common for people to be able to order whatever food they like, at least in most cities. However, the delivery services in The Sims 4 are still lagging behind compared to all the variety and technology introduced in real life.
LittleMsSam fixes this easily with her cool Food Delivery Service mod. Sims can now order food at any time of the day, on any day of the week. They can even order different sizes and just about any food that's available. It's a great relief for busy families or for those who just can't cook.
11 Halloween Town
Halloween is still a few months away, but it wouldn't be fair not to showcase what's perhaps one of the most incredible builds and content packs available for The Sims 4 right now. Players who are fans of the spooky season will especially appreciate the depth and detail that has gone into this build.
SimDoughnut made this huge Halloween Town that supposedly appears every Halloween in Willow Creek. It has a ton of details, including a catacomb underneath it all. The town comes with its own stuff pack, and to really bring the whole look together, players should also download some of the additional custom content listed on the creator's page.
10 Mochi Fashion Stuff
The Sims is completely stale and worthless without simmer's being able to dress their pretty virtual barbie dolls to match their personalities and style. The Mochi Fashion Stuff Pack by Pepperoni Puffin has only eight items and is pint sized compared to other fashion bundles. But what it lacks in size, it makes up for in variety by being loading with plenty of trendy chic clothing goodies. Featuring four tasteful dresses, two elegant hairstyles, and two casual tops for adult female sims, players can download and enjoy that these items are Maxis Matched in order to blend seamlessly into their game.
9 Life's Drama
Life's Drama Mod Pack by SacrificialMods adds some much needed life to simmer's neighborhood. Featuring 11 dramatic situations that could take place around them, your sims can choose to help out these fellow sims and earn a reward. These happenings range from small events such as a couple in a fight to seriously major events such as a sim being robbed in broad daylight, a fellow sim being bullied by an evil gang, or even sims spontaneously catching on fire where players will need to act fast to help extinguish them before they die in a roaring blaze.
8 Slice Of Life
The Slice of Life Mod Pack by KawaiiStacie focuses on adding realism to the game by having physical changes for sims based on their mood such as blushing when flirty or being teary eyed when they are sad. Sims even get 17 new emotions such as relaxed or lust.
It also gives sim's a Talent players can choose through a menu. Their sims can also get drunk, lose a tooth, get pimples, and even get their periods. But players can pick and choose which package files they want to keep or not.
7 Custom Trait Pack
The Custom Sims Traits Pack by SimmerSarah is a unique collection of all of her previously released individual content. Alone, these traits are impressive and well crafted, but when these items are packaged together in an awesome super mod pack, they become an absolutely essentially needed bundle for a player's sims game. The mod pack is stuffed full with exciting traits such as the Workaholic quirk where sims never take a vacation day or for players to give themselves a real challenge, they can make their sims Socially Awkward making it difficult for their sims to make friends and perform social interactions.
6 Turbo Careers
Ever since the Get To Work expansion pack was launched, sims have been busy bees with their new playable careers. However, with only three trades to choose from, some players found this content lacking. One custom content creator felt the same way. Zerbu created Turbo Careers to allow simmers to follow their sims into 10 of the base game professions. Just like in Get To Work (which is required) players are prompted at the beginning of each work day to follow their sims. They will then perform tasks for jobs such as Criminal, Secret Agent, Entertainer, and even become an Astronaut.
5 Have Some Personality Please!
PolarBearSims' Have Some Personality Please! Mod, adds vital features to bring more character to your sims. Highlights include more autonomy for everyone, even toddlers and the removal of idol chit-chat. This means sims will choose chat interactions based on their moods and traits. Like if a sims is Mean, they're much more likely to perform evil chat interactions. Or if a sim is Mad they're more likely to choose angry chat interactions.
Another feature, is the ability to enable things such as risky woohoo. As well as the percentage for try for baby and even different woohoo locations.
4 IKEA Home Stuff
With Simsi45's IKEA Home Stuff, players will be able to enjoy stylish affordable luxury items that everyone loves from IKEA. Featuring 68 brand new items, including sofas, beds, lights, decor, and everything else a sim needs to make a happy home. These custom items also come in a ton of unique recolors to mix and match to your hearts content. The creator boasts that everything has been play tested in game to ensure quality. The download itself comes in two parts due to it's size. Part One has all items except for beds. Part Two has only the beds.
3 Go To School
If you've ever wanted to go to school with your little sims and follow them during their school day? Then the Go To School Mod Pack by Zerbu has you covered. Just like in the Get To Work expansion pack (which is required) players are asked if they want to follow their child and teen sims when they leave for the day. A typical day will have four main goals and some days are fun days for things like field trips and even costume days. Also included are two new venue types, Elementary and High School, which players can choose to make themselves.
2 Meaningful Stories
Meaningful Stories by roBurky is a mod pack that redesigns the mood and emotion system of The Sims 4. This collection of changes allows players sims to feel more human, to make the events in their lives feel more significant, and to make managing their lives a more interesting challenge. Unlike in base game, sims won't be able to flip from intense sadness to intense happiness without passing through the emotions in between. For example, a sims might get into a depressive rut for days that will take some effort and help from their friends to overcome.
1 Pufferhead Stuff
Every little sim knows about Henry Puffer the wizard from the popular children's book! But puffer fans could only express their love for the literary sorcerer with a single solitary base game poster. Well not anymore with MLys's Pufferhead Stuff Pack! Spoil your Henry Puffer loving sims and infuse some magic in their lives with these unique readable books, posters, mystical decorations, charming furniture, bewitching clothing, and other enchanting goodies for your sims.
