We were lucky enough to have just us and the tour guide, we went on a Thursday. We did the 90 minute Paranormal Tour. We got to see all the floors and hear all the stories. Would definitely recommend it!

I really enjoyed a walk through this town! Lots of history here, and many of the old buildings are open to walk in to or sometimes just look in from the door. Just the right amount of touristy stuff added in but not intrusive.

This is the third time I visited the prison. Garrett was the best tour leader ever He told stories of the prisoners that you don't get without someone who worked there.

New River Gorge is such a gem in the area. We only had two hours but did the following:
Started at the Visitor Center which has some great look out points of the New River Gorge Bridge
There's a QR code that will take you on a narrated drive. This tour will take you to Lansing, Fayette stations all the way down to the river. You'll learn all about why this area was so important and the role that coal played in the economy as well.
We stopped mid tour to hike around the area which was some beautiful waterfalls

Great half day spot to learn more about the coal history in West Virginia. Tours are given by retired miners. Loved the underground mine tour, as well as the historic buildings.

I Just love waterfalls and hearing it as it cascades over the big boulders is just wonderfull. The park itself is very beautiful and well kept. There is a gift Shoppe and a restroom just walking distance from the falls.

Been to the Gandy Dancer several times, each time, show was very entertaining and the cast was amazing. Food was good, service was good and staff very accommodating. Friendly place to have a good time!

Cool experience. I’ve never done a cavern tour and it was perfect to do on a rainy day. It is very chilly so dress warm and it is an active cavern so there is a decent amount of water/wet spots so good footwear is recommended. It is self-guided and easy enough to do and navigate through. Takes about 45 min.

We took the bald knob train and it was fantastic with the views and the fall foliage. You are given a bagged lunch and while on the train we were given detailed information about Cass and the train. Took many pictures and hearing the trains whistle while going uphill was really cool. Make sure you are in car c or further might hurt your ears or wear ear plugs.

This museum was surprisingly awesome - the exhibits were immersive and well made. We have a 2 year old and we were looking for somewhere to walk around in December when we stopped in Charleston on a road trip - this was perfect! Not only were the exhibits immersive and interactive for kids but there was interesting historical information about West Virginia too. And the Christmas decorations were great too!

I often used to go here with colleagues for a special retreat, in the last time I was there I brought my mother. Unfortunately that time I was pregnant and I was not allowed to use the bathing facilities or receive a massage. If not pregnant this is an ideal place to go with colleagues or families who you are close to as they will take same sex members of a family or of a collegial relationship and through you in a wonderful mineral bath. Each bath is private but one cannot work clothing. You can get a very inexpensive massage from women who have worked at the facility for many years. Because it is a state park, the rates for services and use of baths is minimal. I feel like in the States this is a very unique place, and feels very much like going to a mineral bath facility somewhere in Europe. The facilities are kept very clean, but are very basic. I've also found a staff to be exceptionally friendly. I personally don't like all of the fluffy stuff associated with a spot experience and you won't find any of that here. This Mineral Springs has been offering bathing going back to George Washington and you can even see his own unique bath right outside of the building housing the bathtubs and massage. It is also of national historical significance. In the summer there is a facility where one can use a large mineral bath shared with a number of other people in the summer. But I have never been there while they have had this open.
