With impressive animation and a terrific voice cast, Flushed Away is both funny and suitably entertaining for both kids and adults - though the latter may actually get more out of it.

A unique British/American comedy, Flushed Away is a wacky adventure that's full of laughs. When a posh, upper class pet mouse from Kensington gets flushed down the toilet he discovers an underground world in the sewers. Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet, Bill Nighy, and Jean Reno lead the cast and give fairly good performances. And the character and set designs are rather imaginative, particularly in how it repurposes mundane objects to create the sewer city. But the writing is a little weak, as the characters and story aren't very engaging. Part of the problem is the overly slapstickish tone, which clashes with the danger and peril in the plot. Yet despite a few bumps, Flushed Away is a fun ride.

Flushed Away has to be one of the weirdest cartoon movies I've ever seen. The film has little to no plot at the beginning, and when it does it just retreads into familiarity as many films in the animated world during its time did. Even though this came before Rango, it kind of had a similar plot except that its a household rat who finds his way to an underground sewer London via the toilet. It seems to come together at the end a bit, mostly on star power voice acting and just wrapping it all up. It's not completely a waste of time, but it's forgettable enough not to be an essential watch.

Aardman have gone and made another smart and clever animation, that features humor for both adults and children. Primarily, the humor is created through the superb choice of voice actors. From Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet, to Bill Nighy, Andy Serkis and even Ian McKellen. 'Flushed Away' does features very few but clever references to another Aardman masterpiece, 'Wallace & Gromit'.So those who love the cheese loving duo, do your best to seek them out.
