Vijay starrer Varisu lands in legal trouble after Animal Welfare Board issues show cause notice to makers

Animal Welfare Board has issued a legal notice against the makers of Vijay’s bilingual Vaarisu, Venkateswara Creations.  According to the show cause notice from the AWB, the makers landed in trouble after they did not seek proper permission for using animals in the film. It seems that the film features five elephants, for which a pre-shoot permission was required as per Performing Animals (Registration) Rules 2001.

As per reports, the Performing Animals (Registration) Rules 2001, permission must be taken prior using animals for shoots or any kind of exhibit. Not following the rules is an offence under Section 26 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Acts, 1960. AWB has sought an explanation from the makers of Vaarisu to give them details of the animals including their health condition and the reason behind using them in the film. The notice also asserted that a reply needs to be filed by the makers within seven days of receiving the letter.

Not too long ago, Varisu was facing another issue owing to its release in Telugu states. Varisu is expected to be a bilingual that will be releasing in Telugu as Varusudu. The film was facing resistance from the Telugu Producers Association over occupying theatre screens since the Makar Sankranti 2023 will be seeing a major clash between Tamil and Telugu films. Many of them from the Tamil industry came in support of the film and asked the association to provide equal theatre screens for all the releases.

Coming to the film, Varisu is directed by popular Telugu filmmaker Vamsi Paidipally and it stars Rashmika Mandanna as the leading lady. The film also features some other popular actors like Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Sangeetha, Yogi Babu, Prabhu, Shaam, among others. The film is expected to clash with the Ajith starrer Thunivu.
