      Season 3 – MAD

      2012 Comedy Animation List
Reviews The humor and pop culture parodies featured in MAD magazine are brought out of the pages and onto the small screen in this satirical animated sketch show. Each episode includes cartoon parodies of different TV shows, movies, games, celebrities and media. No one is safe from becoming a parody in the series that exposes the sordid truth behind today's pop culture. Each sketch-animated episode is inspired by classic material featured in the magazine, including features by Sergio Aragones and Don Martin as well as the iconic Spy vs. Spy series. Cassandra B I'm really glad I revisited MAD, it's an incredibly nostalgic show I grew up watch, but for as fun as revisiting it was, i'd say it's a mixed bag for me now that I'm an adult. Some of the references really did not age well, and there's some parodies they did that are just straight up unfunny unless you're familiar with the source material they're parodying(an issue since it started. seriously, how many kids who viewed it at the time were avid fans of both The Iron Lady and The Iron Giant? I'm sure I got the reference it would be funny but the only part I understood was just the iron giant stuff.)I also wasn't a fan of the frequent reliance on toliet/gross out humor, i just don't find that stuff funny. And if you're not a fan of outdated memes and pop culture references, then I'd say about 50% of the humor of this show won't do much for you. Expect lots of references to mid 2010s memes and shitting on Justin Bieber(yes, it's that dated.) That being said, there are some genuinely fantastic episodes of this show that still make me laugh and have aged relatively well, like the MCU parodies for example and I have a soft spot for the Ben 10 parody, I found those funny since I first saw them. It truly was a show that was perfect for it's time seeing as movie parodies such as Honest Trailers and, for as much as I loathe their content, Cinemasins were becoming big on YouTube, but looking back, as I said in the beginning, it's a mixed bag. Some of it aged really well and some of it really didn't. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
