Leigh Janiak Redefines ‘Netflix And Chill’ With Horror Trilogy ‘Fear Street’: It’s “A Hybrid Of Traditional Television Content And Movies”
Kick-starting a new horror franchise is tough enough. But when producer Peter Chernin reached out to indie director Leigh Janiak with the idea of adapting author R.L. Stine’s popular Fear Street books, the end result was not one, but three consecutive movies. Shot over 106 days, the R-rated trilogy is being screened over three weekends on Netflix.

Deadline: It’s hard enough to make one horror film, but three, back-to-back? What were you thinking?

Leigh Janiak: It was definitely crazy. Basically, Peter Chernin had this amazing idea that he wanted to do some kind of new type of theatrical release by making three Fear Street movies and releasing them all together. I pitched this idea of having the movies connected,

He is known for outspoken, even flip, commentary, and many people who are not close followers may best know him from a CNN appearance in which he was taken off the air by anchor Brooke Baldwin after he made references to female anatomy.

Apple Studios Names Jessie Henderson Feature Executive in Original Films
Jessie Henderson has joined Apple Studios as a feature film executive, the tech giant announced Friday.

Based in Los Angeles, Henderson will report to Apple Original Film’s head of features Matt Dentler.

Henderson most recently served as executive vice president of original feature films at HBO Max, focusing on development. Tyler Perry Weighs In On Georgia Voting Law That “Harkens To The Jim Crow Era”
Tyler Perry, who owns the massive Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta and is one of Georgia’s biggest employers of film and TV workers, is speaking out about the state’s recently passed, restrictive voter law, calling it “unconstitutional” and one that “harkens to the Jim Crow era.”

The new law, which Gov. Brian Kemp signed last week, has tougher ID rules for absentee ballots, limits the use of drop boxes like those implemented used during the 2020 elections, and gives state election board officials the ability to override local boards. It also makes it a misdemeanor to offer food or water to voters waiting in line.

Voting rights organizations argue the law targets voters of color in the state, which was the epicenter of the November elections that saw it vote in two Democratic senators in contentious runoffs. Joe Biden also carried Georgia in the presidential election, the first time
