Eintracht Frankfurt defeated Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich 2-1 on Saturday afternoon, with Real Madrid loanee Luka Jovic leading the line for the hosts.

The Serbian didn't get on the scoresheet but played an important role in a clinical first half display from Frankfurt that proved the Bavarians' undoing.

Daichi Kamada gave the home side the perfect start after just 12 minutes, and Amin Younes then doubled their lead just after the half hour mark.

The second half saw a very different image, with Bayern throwing everything at the hosts to attempt a spectacular comeback.

Leroy Sane was at the heart of every good attack for Bayern, and some magic from the former Manchester City winger saw him set up Robert Lewandowski for an easy tap in on 53 minutes to halve the deficit.

It was one-way traffic for most of the second period. Kingsley Coman came close on a few occasions, while Niklas Sule, from right back, was involved in plenty of attacks, but to no avail.

Lucas Hernandez was brought on late in the game and a late run down the left followed by a tempting cross looked destined to be headed in by Lewandowski, but the ball in was a touch too high and Frankfurt were able to hold on.

It was Bayern's third defeat of the Bundesliga season and allows RB Leipzig the chance to go within just two points of the leaders if they win away at Hertha Berlin on Sunday.
