REPUBLIC Asia and iACADEMY presented their second event titled ‘NEXT UP: Embracing and Preparing for the Ever-Evolving Landscape of Digital Media’ on October 27, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the iACADEMY Nexus Auditorium.

Following the success of the “Lead Like a Pro” campaign in May, iACADEMY and Republic Asia were able to collaborate once more, bringing in some of the biggest names in content providers, mobile journalists, and other media personalities who gave not only relevant talks, but industry level tips on how to thrive with current media trends.

There were approximately 300 people in attendance at the event. These are a mix of iACADEMY students and students from other universities who were able to register for the event.

“As we all know, the media has quickly evolved. As it continue to evolve or change to different kind of dynamics, we also need to adapt, and this is where events liked these happens,” he said.

This time, the event was separated into three sections: NOW, NEW, and NEXT. The portions touched on the current status of media, new digital discoveries, and how netizens will migrate into the future.

GMA’s Howie Severino, “The Quintessential Journalist,” appeared on NOW. Ann Claire Credo-Cabochan, Deputy Director General for Operations of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines. Gretchen Ho, a prominent News5 host and news anchor, is the third and last speaker.

Raquel Perez, COO of iACADEMY, explained the reason for the collaboration to republicasia. “I think it all stems from the purpose of iACADEMY. We want to build partnerships that would deliver good training for our students,” she explained.

“Not just textbook or classrom preparation for the professional world, but also we’re exposing them to industry trends, and practices so that they’ll be able to address these demands,”  she went on to explain.

The relationship between iACADEMY and Republic Asia has undeniably demonstrated the significance of not only sticking to our traditional media knowledge, but also of adapting in order to succeed as media practitioners.
