2011 Vintage

2019 Vintage Tasted: Sep 2020
When to drink: 2030 to 2050
2017 Vintage Tasted: Sep 2020
When to drink: 2027 to 2040
1990 Vintage Tasted: Jun 2020
Kräftiges Rubingranat, gute Farbtiefe, violette Re?exe, zarter Wasserrand. Feinwürzig, schwarze und rote Beeren, kandierte Mandarinenzesten, würzig-tabakige Anklänge. Saftig, ungemein frisch und elegant, finessenreiche Struktur, schokoladige Tannine, sehr lange anhaftend, mineralisch im Abgang, engmaschig, süßer Wacholder, sicheres Zukunftspotenzial. Große Klasse.
2017 Vintage Tasted: Mar 2020
This perfumed wine shines with black fruits. Against this, the wine's tannins are solid and firm, promising long-term aging. The wine's structure—black fruits against tannins—is a classic for this estate. Drink from 2024. Roger Voss
1996 Vintage Tasted: Jan 2020
(2020) Not tasted since 2000, this was decanted off the sediment and poured almost immediately. Shy at first, within 10 minutes in the glass the sweet red and black fruit began to emerge, joining game and light cedary scents that grew and grew, becoming richer and firmer in the glass. On the palate a gorgeous iron-oxide, dried blood streak to this, the finesse of the tannins and acidity just beautifully balanced, the wine structurally elegant and yet muscular, a great depth of savoury fruit really beginning to dominate the mid-palate and the long finish. Superb. Drinking really, really well now, but will hold for several years I suspect.
2016 Vintage Tasted: Jun 2019
When to drink: 2030 to 2040
2018 Vintage Tasted: Jun 2019
When to drink: 2030 to 2050
2018 Vintage Tasted: May 2019
Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarter Wasserrand.
2016 Vintage Tasted: May 2019
Immensely tannic, this is a great Haut-Brion, one of the finest for many years. It shows the severe side of this estate, with a dense structure to match the powerful black fruits. Rich with berry flavors and lifted by enough acidity, the wine will age for many years. Drink from 2026. Roger Voss
2018 Vintage Tasted: Apr 2019
95–97. Barrel Sample. This wine has opulence and concentration, with crisp flavors of ripe yellow fruits. There is so much going on in this impressive wine. It has benefited from the hot summer, yielding a ripe wine that still manages to remain crisp and tight on the finish. Roger Voss
2015 Vintage Tasted: Mar 2019
Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung.
Peter Moser
1998 Vintage Tasted: Feb 2019
Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Peter Moser
1989 Vintage Tasted: Nov 2018
Mittleres Karmingranat, Ockerreflexe, breitere Randaufhellung. Peter Moser
2015 Vintage Tasted: Jun 2018
When to drink: 2025 to 2040
2017 Vintage Tasted: May 2018
Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung und Kräuterwürze, dunkle Beerenfrucht, reife Kirschen, Nougat, Kardamom, Orangenzesten, facettenreiches Bukett. Gute Komplexität, schwarze Kirschen, straffe Textur, etwas Nougat, integrierte, tragende Tannine, schokoladiger Touch im Abgang, verfügt über einiges Zukunftspotenzial.
2013 Vintage Tasted: May 2018
Leuchtendes Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Feine dunkle Beerenfrucht, zart nach Lakritze, etwas Vanille, zitronige Nuancen einladendes Bukett. Saftig, rotbeeriger Touch, straffe Textur, rote Kirschen klingen an, mineralisch, salzig gut ausgewogen, mittlere Komplexität.
2015 Vintage Tasted: Jan 2018
Direct and concentrated, this wine is powered by tannins and a firm texture. Dense, it has the potential for plenty of fruit as it matures. That will take time, because this impressive wine is powered by its structure. Wait until 2028.
2014 Vintage Tasted: Jun 2017
When to drink: 2022 to 2040
Ganz grosse Klasse: Frische, Rasse, Fülle, Länge, Qualität der dichten, festen, knackigen Gerbstoffe.
2016 Vintage Tasted: May 2017
1961 Vintage Tasted: Jan 2017
Kräftiges Rubingranat, Ockerreflexe, dezenter Wasserrand. Dunkles Beerenkonfit, reife Pflaumen, angenehme Würze, Anklänge von Lorbeeren, tabakig unterlegte Röstaromen, etwas Nougat. Saftig, elegante Textur, extraktsüßer Körper, feine, ausgereifte Tannine, mineralischer Touch, bleibt lange haften. - Peter Moser
2014 Vintage Tasted: Jan 2017
Full of ripe fruit, opulent and concentrated, this is a fabulous and impressive wine. It has a beautiful line of acidity balanced with ripe fruits. The wood aging is subtle, just a hint of smokiness and toast. This is one of those wines, from a great white wine vintage, that will age many years. Drink from 2024.
2013 Vintage Tasted: Dec 2016
When to drink: 2020 to 2035

Very Good
1994 Vintage Saved: 7-Jul-2021
Darkly pigmented, medium to deep ruby-red color. Restrained cassis fruit on the nose has concentration, ripeness, tobacco leaf and cedar notes. Dark fruit on the palate is ripe & has a plush mouth-feel supported by cedary structure and quite sweet vanilla oak. Acidity is well-balanced & holds the finish up well. A good if not great Haut Brion. 11/99 DCAMW
Very Good
1995 Vintage Saved: 7-Jul-2021
Dark but not opaque ruby-red color. Very ripe, high-toned dark-fruit aromas on the nose are adorned with chocolate & coconut milk notes on the palate. Acid is lively & alcohol is balanced. Tannins are harmonious, but do cover the end of the fruit, leaving the finish a little short. 11/99 DCAMW
Very Good
1996 Vintage Saved: 6-Jul-2021
Medium ruby-red with dark pigmentation. Rich ripe red-fruit with cedary oak on the nose. Nice lively acidity lifts the fruit, balancing the ripe fruit & cedary structure. Finish is long. Lovely rich & balanced wine but not a blockbuster. 11/01 DCAMW
Very Good
1997 Vintage Saved: 6-Jul-2021
Medium to deep ruby red with dark pigmentation, showing slight color development at the rim. The fruit on the nose is restrained & dark, hiding behind cedary oak. Deep, plummy, ripe, red-fruit on the palate is dense & extracted rather than lively. The structure, however, is not huge, alcohol is balanced & acidity is fresh - allowing cedar, vanilla & delicate red-fruit to enlivened the finish, which is of reasonable length. 11/01 DCAMW
Excellent
1998 Vintage Saved: 5-Jul-2021
Medium to dark ruby-red. Lifted-ripe fruit aromas are dark in nature with high-toned redcurrant aspects. Fruit on the palate is very ripe & high-toned. The wine has superb balance, it is not weighty but has intense cedar notes & is very persistent. Oak on the finish is so beautifully integrated, providing structure without dominating or drying it out. 11/02 DCAMW
Excellent

Deap & dark ruby-red, not quite opaque. Aromas are of rich, ripe fruit, cocoa butter & clean cedary oak. On the palate rich but restrained dark red-fruits are seamlessly married to the fine tannins. The structure supple but shows grip. The wine is medium to full-bodied. Cocoa-butter, cedar & graphite notes dominate the fruit but its rich texture suggests it will open spectacularly. Alcohol & acidity are both perfectly balanced & the finish is long & cedary. 11/04 DCAMW

Medium to deep ruby-red, but not quite opaque. Aromas are of rich, over-mature, dried-fruits with figs & sultana notes. The palate is beautifully together. Initially there is good grip, then it becomes smooth. Good acidity lifts clean fruit from among smooth cocoa-butter notes to give a fresh finish. There is plentiful oak & the lovely fine tannic structure lasts well. 11/05 DCAMW

Medium to deep, dark ruby-red. There is lifted red fruit, but the nose is quite closed, showing hints of toasty oak. The palate has a fair concentration of lovely fresh red fruit. There wine is full-bodied with good firm structure that does not close the fruit up significantly. Alcohol adds warmth to the finish. The wine will open and become more supple with age. 11/07 DCAMW

Medium to deep ruby-red color. Ripe dark-cherry noes and pencil shavings combine on a very pronounced nose. A lovely depth of fruit is initially closed up by plenty of classic cedary oak. Alcohol is balanced, the structure is concentrated & acidity is soft. Flavors last well. 11/08 DCAMW

Deep ruby-red, not opaque. Wonderfully rich, intense ripe, red-fruit aromas on the nose. Fabulous, rich, soft, voluptuous red-fruit on the palate has truffle notes. This has marvellous elegance, the fine structure is open rather than tight. The long silky finish lasts very well. 11/09 DCAMW
